Replacing electric boot motors

Featured Replies

Right hand side motor gave up, and to a handy person it might seem blatantly obvious - but how do I remove the locking pin without breaking it? Can I just jack up the vertical part with a screwdriver, or do I need to do something with the horizontal parts on top and bottom?

The warning text from the repair book says to lever it, but it seems stuck as it is now.

I do not think this a commonly fitted option in the UK.

Others may know more.

I just replaced the servo. Just lever the vertical section of the locking pin 3-4mm with a flat screwdriver and it comes off easily. All in all a really easy repair/replacement

My electric boot just stopped working too, tries to open but beeps 3 times "i think". with some lift it opens and closes.

Could it be one one of the motors ?

Mine did beep three times before giving up, and had to be opened by hand slowly. It would close by itself by the tailgate button, though. A diagnose tool will tell you what's wrong.

Yurgh, mine is behaving exactly the same, what is the servo part that you replaced?

Forgot to answer, sorry - I did a diagnostic check which identified the right side motor. My old one was 5e9827852D, which has been replaced with revision F, so I got my hands on a not-so-used 5e9827852F from a car breaking service. Left and right are different part numbers, so be sure to check your part - it's easily readable. It might be marked with "D03S"(varies) which doesn't matter. Get the newest one you can.

Do not remove the old one until you are ready to install the new one, as you might not be able to put the old one back on. Like mine did: the piston had broken so it split in parts when I removed it.

In the repair manual they write: "The end positions must be adjusted with --> Vehicle diagnostic tester after installing the spindle drive." Have you done this??

i'll be visiting my mechanic this week to check which motor is the problem as i dont have the diagnostic tool, thanks to yurgh we dont need to pay the dealer loads of money.

Would be interested to know about the end position too.

I have exchanged my left spindle drive. It was done within 10 Minutes. It was so easy...the difficult part for me was to disconnect the plugs. I had cold Fingers and the plugs are very stiff together. 😖

But in the End everything is working fine, no need for a Vehicle diagnostic tester after installing the spindle drive. I have purchased the spindle drive here: www.eskoda-shop.cz for 340€.

My local Dealer told my he wants 550€. pffff😱

So i have just install the new one and thats is for me...

Wow that is a lot more than I thought for such small part.. I’ll probably buy it from the same link you posted. How did you find it was your left motor?

I didn't do that because it seemed to work fine. Today I did a basic setting (adapting flap opening angle) but I don't notice any change in behavior.

Hello. Looks like I have a problem with the electric tailgate. It opens slightly and then locks. When I press the button to close it or open it further, it closes, but not completely. You have to repeat a few times until it closes on its own or I manually open it up and then it goes closed from the button. I put the car on the tester, but I have no error on the electric shock absorbers or on the tailgate. What error codes did you have? The only solution is to replace them? Thank you

So ours Octy is also making a mess of the rear hatch drive by the electrical dampers - at least one needs replacement for sure!

Not as fancy as the OEM option at the quote 2x€700 price level, but this pair is of interest. Dealership would need to decode some locking function if going back to non-electrical, and that even was €500...

I am looking into a pair of these https://www.ebay.de/itm/265291129001?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20220822113838%26meid%3D36ab3a232a3c46f5be2ca69a6f2500ff%26pid%3D101524%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26itm%3D265291129001%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26algv%3DRecentlyViewedItemsV2&_trksid=p2380057.c101524.m146925&_trkparms=pageci%3Ab0805855-0e8e-11ee-902c-fe169c3ddf39|parentrq%3Ad34452bb1880ab8fbea40e83fffc0310|iid%3A1

Is it as simple as plug n play, or are there some coding needed when strictly doing a replacement ?
