Painting Calipers ??

Featured Replies

Need to change rear pads and was thinking off painting the Calipers and carriers in Matt black just to tidy them up or should I just leave them.

Been looking at the E-tech stuff

Anyone done it ?? Or used the E-tech stuff and have opinions on it.

cheers all

What are you planning to clean the calipers with?

Was going to take the carriers off and clean them up with wire bush in angle grinder and as much as I could do on caliper that’s safe to get at without damaging seals etc.

Then wash them of with brake cleaner provided in the kit

Done the same with my Wifes Merc C class due to being able to see the calipers and painted them the same colour as car £7.75 from ebay delivered an old small paint brush and a £2 tin of brake cleaner

Been on 4 yrs now and still looks as fresh as the day it was done

It is all about the preparation to get a good finish

The more time cleaning the better the results

I agree with @DEL80Y preperation is key, I used spray on hammerite on the Honda and that has just started to show signs of wear after one disc change and two sets of pads and 12 years!!!

Hammerite was just a straight spray on  no primer or undercoat. Keep meaning  to do the Superb but never seem to have the time.

Any brush on enamel or Hammerite works well on calipers, no need for undercoat on intense cleaning, just wire brush the loose dirt off and it will be right.
