Tyre Pressure Monitoring Light

Featured Replies

Hi. I drive a 2017 Skoda Rapid 1.2 TSI SEL. On buying the car I had a Kenwood Sat Nav double din unit professionally installed. I still have the original radio unit.

However, on recently having two new front tyres fitted the 'tyre pressure monitoring light' has activated and apparently can only be deactivated via the original unit - 'car' button on the radio. I've been to the Skoda garage and they've politely said it has to be done through the originally installed radio. A local garage which has VW diagnostic equipment say they may be able to do it, having never done it before, for 25 quid.

However, this still leaves me with a longer term problem of not being able to MOT the car in 2019. So, are there any after market fixes or do I have to have the original radio refitted?

You should easily be able to reset it with VCDS.

Thanks Rustynuts. I've looked into this and a VCDS won't clear/reset a TPMS warning e.g. ICarsoft VAWS v2.0 which I could borrow.

 ICarsoft VAWS v2.0 isn't VCDS...

VCDS is made by rosstech and should be able to perform a TPMS reset, it certainly can for other VAG group cars.

You've not mentioned which Kenwood headunit you've fitted, is it designed for a Skoda or just a generic double DIN unit?

I think some Rapid's also get a TPMS reset button near the handbrake, it might be possible to retrofit one assuming the ABS controller is compatible.

Just FYI I have one on the lower right centre dash on my '07 mk2 Octy 4x4.
