Removal of A pillar trim

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I posted this over in the dashcam fitting guide thread but got no responses. I'm hoping that this is because it's hidden away rather than that no one has done it so I'm going to try positing here instead....

I decided to reroute my cable behind the A pillar trim at the weekend. Mainly because I think the current routing between the pillar and the windscreen is causing a rattle at low revs.

Tried to remove the a pillar trim and managed to get 2 clips out but it looks like the pillar trim needs to be pushed upwards to free the clips completely. Unfortunately it wouldn't budge. Has anyone managed to do this?

Thanks but the instructions aren't very helpful...

Removing–Unclip the trim panel of the A pillar -1- out of the supports ofthe A pillar starting at the top.

That's it. I could tell when I tried to remove it that there needs to be some sort of upward motion to completely free the clips.

Still looking for help if anyone has done this...?

As the words aren't doing it for you, maybe a picture helps:

Well it tells me where it is and that it has 3 clips but then I already knew that.....

If it's similar to the Yeti you have to pull out at the top then slide the trim up, then it comes off, make sure you don't lose the clips!

I will do the same to fix the camera cable

Also be careful when putting it back - mine was removed to investigate a leak and when it was replaced the dealer bent the clips and had to get a new trim.

I managed to slide the camera cable down the front of the trim (next to windscreen), then through the side panel into the fusebox.

Need some help here please with the side pillar trim removal.

I have read this thread.

I have a copy of the 'General body repairs.pdf' and can see how it fastens.

I have now got a natty little set of plastic doofas for trim removal.

What I cannot do is release the  *** trim clips!!  I am reluctant to put too much force on it - is there a 'trick'?  Where do I poke and pull? Do I work from the door seal side?
