Cam belt change £

Featured Replies

Just had my 2014 Octavia 1.4 petrol serviced. It's domne 42K. They said it's due a cam belt change in a few months according to the age.

What's a reasonable price for that? Im in the Southeast if that helps.

Thanks.

Skoda are fixed price £399 or £499 with the water pump. My local dealer made it £399 for mine with the water pump :)

I'd get the water pump changed regardless as they'll have the belt out.

these are some very good prices that you are getting there! Here (Bulgaria) they charge roughly the same price, but salaries are much lower...

Anyway - i think in the service schedule is written that together with the belt you should change the water pump. It is a good idea to do it because a failure in it can lead to nasty damage in the engine..

I paid £520 for belt & pump at a local independent specialist.

The pump had failed at 81K miles/4 years and the nearest dealership is nearly an hour's drive away.  Ironically a dealership opened up less than a month later 7 miles away lol

Crikey, prices seem to have gone up! When I had my mk2 done (several years ago granted) at an independent in Coventry I think it cost me about £260 inc the water pump.

Given the age of your car, I personally wouldn’t waste money on using a Skoda dealer and would save a good few pounds by finding a decent local independent.

I know people are trying to be helpful but the OP has a 1.4tsi and the belt and water pump are not related as they are in the diesels.

The water pump and cover were replaced on my 2014 1.4tsi when it played up at only 50k km (in Australia) for an extortionately expensive equivalent of £850.

The belt is at the other end of the engine and was not replaced. Not intending to do so for a while.
