Esc and tcs disabled but comes back on at 70mph

Featured Replies

So today managed to code the traction controls and esc so I can switch it from standard to sport to completely off using the button next to the gearstick. Also managed to remove torque limiters from the dsg to allow th car to slip a little if needed. This all came from a trip round ‘the ring’ and the stability and traction control were a pain in the ass. However it switches back on automatically at 70mph.

Does any one know how to code the speed out so the stability and traction control stay off

ta

Not very sure, this is possible.

I had been told by my local dealer for my previous MK2, that ESC is never fully OFF, since the "Superb cannot be driven like a small GTI" (sic). Thus if the driver was too "generous", the ESC would switch automatically ON, if needed, even if previsously switched OFF.

I assume, this safety setting may also be programmed on MK3...

:wait: Note:, this is pure hypothesis. I never discussed this point with my local dealer (the same one as for MK2), when I took delivery of my MK3...

Not the main question of your topic but I am 99% sure this is only possible via a DSG remap, not a VCDS coding.

Which adapatation/long coding did you carry out that supposedly does this If I may ask?

Yea have had the box mapped to match the engine map but I may ask about if they can remove the speed threshold off the traction control and see what they say.

Adaptations for the traction control and asr off were

torque limiter off

Ok I'm familiar with the starting vibration reduction - I thought you meant you changed the DSG torque limiter via VCDS - which is only removable/raised via a DSG remap (that you already got), clear now.

Which car and MY is it? I can't get most of the ABS module adaptations to work on my MY19 without getting Brakes error messages so I'd given up.

Can you also post the reg. no....just in case I ever come across it on a forecourt

Need to work on that "humour"

It’s a 16 plate 4x4 190 sportline estate.

Cheers, maybe the ABS module code was still working on MY16s I assume.

Side question: Why would you ever bother with "starting vibration reduction" on that particular car?

It’s a lot more responsive with it off. And coming from a manual mapped vrs diesel I find it quite hard to get used to the sluggishness of the superb. And the doses dsg box... Even with a remap to 210 and 460nm it’s still taking some getting used to.

A lot more responsive when? during launching? That's the only case where you could notice a slight difference with that mod, and even then we are talking hard launches @3K+ rpm which is why I wondered how often you do launch this car that way?!  This mod (starting vibration reduction) benefits mostly tuned FWD cars that drag race, your AWD has little trouble launching anyway. I experimented with it a lot on my previous car that would struggle off the line (370bhp, FWD).

Other than this specific scenario, setting off normally and overall throttle response are not related with that particular limiter, pedal box is your reply.

It just seems to have a bit more pick up when you wanna get gone. I’ve done the Audi pedal mod and that did help.. No I don’t launch it at all so not really noticed it that way. I was experimenting with the settings too so I have a feeling it won’t be staying because I’d imagine it puts more load on the components

Any improvement on the overall throttle response would be entirely down to the Audi mod is all I'm saying. The starting vibration reduction is all about the torque limitation when launching (or maybe even up to 2nd gear if you are running a lot of extra torque) on full throttle, which according to what you describe you shouldn't have experienced so far. Basically with this mod, when hitting torque limits the car will not cut off so if you can modulate the throttle well it could give you an edge when launching. If you can't, it could potentially result in more wheel hop so maybe not for everyone. However all that is primarily an issue on FWD cars so its impact is minimal on AWD. It's usually FWD owners involved in drag racing (you can call me: tuned GTIs) that are worried about this.

If you don't drive the car in a way that you hit these limiters often (as you've confirmed) it makes no difference what setting you leave it to. I do agree though that some extra load must be transferred to the drivetrain and especially when the tires aren't spinning, something's gotta give eventually.

Thanks for that mate. Explained a lot better than I heard it originally. Never had 4x4 before and although I’m technical and know how it works that makes much more sense now. So back onto subject. Any idea how the hell I can code esc and asr tcs off so it doesn’t switch back on at 60mph

Yeah sorry for the slight (hopefully) derail of the thread. I personally haven't seen that happening on other MQB cars so I've got no idea why it comes back on at that speed... Maybe someone has an explanation/remedy

No idea and it’s a pain in the ar5e.?could it be because it has active cruise and front assist because when I turn it off front assists becomes unavailable too
