I guess it’s made it wider than just this forum as HJ is reporting it:

Thanks

From the article in the link:

In a statement from Volkswagen in Germany, the company said: “Volkswagen is aware of reports from customers complaining that some vehicles featuring the 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine with manual gearbox can be slightly hesitant in the cold-running phase.

"We are currently developing a solution to prevent these rare effects in the affected vehicles.”

It would appear then that VAG are still not ready to fully acknowledge the extent of the problems, as such the probability of a genuine fix has to be fairly low.

I bailed and bought a 1.0 instead. Even the salesman at the dealers said to avoid the 1.5.

I do agree that the article reads more like a company produced something duff and so are addressing one small part of the issue to hopefully make everyone go away.

Only time will tell, but after dieselgate and that fix, you would think that any driver bitten twice will never be back.

They'll probably only acknowledge there's an issue when they've got an appropriate solution for the issue. They do appear to be lagging behind because it does appear to be a wide reported issue as I've just googled the engine and as I started typing 'vw 1.5', one of the suggestions was 'kangaroo'.

Hmm...I'm picking up my new 1.5 TSI manual tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

I must be the lucky one.  My 2017 1.5 TSI manual Octavia SEL has never given any problems pulling away.  I feel from reading the above, that the problem lies with the software trying to operate the hill start / anti stall and is making a hash of it.  Should be a simple fix or else turn it off altogether and let people drive normally ?  Not much help I'm afraid.

Maybe it should be an easy fix but VW Group being the biggest car manufacturer in the world seem to be a little bit slow in being able to do that for those with the various vehicles be that manual or DSG 1.5 TSI EVO with or without a GPF.

That will be why cars are sitting waiting to be fixed while owners drive courtesy / hire cars & others are rejecting cars.

If it was as simple as turning off stop start and using Super Unleaded as people with the issues were first told life would be as reliable as a Golf, just not a Golf awaiting the simple fix.

Hello fellow sufferers. On 18th May I wrote that I would be away for a time and that I would find out the progress on a software update when I got back. Earlier, I had complained to the dealers where I bought my car in January 2018 (1,5 ACT hatchback) when I took the car in for its first service about the hesitation of the engine on pickup. They told me that Skoda had a software update in the pipeline due out second quarter 2019. Anyway, in June, the dealers said that they had no information re said update and that I should phone Skoda UK customer services. So I did. Skoda UK C.S.  said that the update has been set back. They are aware of the problem but it is not ready for release. They advised me to keep in contact with them to find out the latest news. Skoda Customer services 03330 037 504.  That is all I know. I am getting more used to the problem of the engine power fading on moving away from a stop but it really is the worst car I have ever had in my life for the engine dying just when you do not want it. The stop /start function does instantly restart the engine if it is in gear and you dip the clutch. Whatever, it's a P.I.T.A.

Have you tried it with the stop start turned off??

Turning off the stop/start does not make any difference. My theory is that when the accelerator is released, either in over-run or idle, the engine operation changes. I think this because there is almost zero engine breaking effect when the car is coasting. Then when the pedal is pressed to start off the engine is caught out in this low power mode and needs time to get back to normal power output.

Service Desk Staff or Service Managers @ Dealerships are clearly talking to the wrong people, then these people must have memory loss or just know Hack Sh-1t,

there are updates that have been done on some 1.5 TSI EVO Manuals and DSG's. There are various different engines build dates and engine management, and not all have a 'fix' that can be applied.

Some have even had 2 updates, been told all sort of nonsense about them and they have helped to a degree, been no good at resolving issues and in some cases totally resolved issues.
