I have a 2017 Skoda Octavia. 

 

Could anyone tell me if the dashboard is the same as an older model? 

 

My octavia has a screen if that helps.

Depends what you mean by an older model...

 

It's completely different to that found in a MK2 Octavia but probably not that different to a pre-FL MK3. Still, if you fit an older cluster you may find there are incompatibilities due to the older software.

I’m wanting to replace the airbags, so require a new dash.

That seems very unlikely, do you have a source for that information?

 

Assuming the airbags have fired, it's possible you might need a new airbag controller but I'd be very surprised if the instrument cluster also needed replacing. It might need some codes clearing?

I assumed that the dashboard is one piece. With the passenger airbag firing through the dashboard, it would mean that it would need replacing.

 

i don’t need to replace clusters, the touch screen, and all the little bits, it was simply the dash itself.

 

And with that in mind...what was the earliest year that the dashboard is the same?

I think all MK3 dashboards are pretty similar as people have fitted the latest headunits and clusters into older cars. I'd suggest you check part numbers but I'd expect most MK3 (around mid 2013 onwards) dashboards to be OK.

 

I can't confirm it unfortunately but others might be able to.

Thanks mate. That was my thought as well. I may potentially buy a donor car.

ill keep an eye out from anything mid 2013 onwards.
