Rear view camera - Retrofit - RCA cable problem

Featured Replies

Hello! I'm trying to install a cheap rear view camera that I bought from Amazon. It fits great an everything but when I'm about to install it to the infotainment system I'm lost. The connection is an RCA Yellow cable with a red positive wire attached to it. But there is no RCA input on the back of the multimedia box. So do I need an adapter or could I possibly split the RCA cable and hot wire it to the existing cables or should I just fit the splissed RCA cable into the correct slot?

Thanks in advance (sorry if it's the wrong part of the forum)

Have read through this, a few pages in:

You need to chop the RCA connector off and wire into the blue connector shown in your photo.

And afaik, the camera needs to be NTSC not PAL

Have you got a link to your Amazon one so I can take a look? I'm waiting for mine to arrive from China, I might order yours in the meantime! :)

Yeah sure! Here it comes: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MR0D4L7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_cjWXCbACEGTHP

Was thinking tho should I be able to push the 3 wires into the unit and it would work? If I only knew which hole to stickm in :inlove:

As per my post above, it's all explained in the thread I linked to. Here's the specific post even:

One wire will be the reverse gear wire, you won’t need that. The others will be +ive and -ive and they need to go to Pin 6 and Pin 12 respectively in the blue quadlock. You will need 20AWG pin terminals for this. They are a few pounds for 10 on eBay. Then you need to code 5F Infotainment - 07 Coding - Byte 19 enable Bit 4 RVC low.

I'll have a read of the linked thread this evening.

Before I do can I ask what could be a straight forward Q: I have a camera that came with my dash cam to act as a PiP rear view.  Assuming it has the right input (ntsc) can I split the signal so it will record on the dash cam and also be able to show in the dash for reverse duties?
