Columbus radio no sound

Featured Replies

Hi newbie here and stuck in a pickle over my columbus headunit, i recently replaced front passenger window regulator and ever since that the sound of my columbus headunit hasnt worked, everything else working with it phone connecting SD card playing CD playing but no sound, iv tried everything from resetting radio by holding in two top left buttons aswell as i button checking fuses disconnecting battery to reset taking radio out to disconnect and reconnect wires iv even updated sw version on radio but still no joy, im thinking now it could be the amp but im struggling to find where the amp is? Is it built into head unit or hiding somewhere in car? Its not under passenger seat as no box under there, any help be much appreciated thanks.

If it stopped working after you replaced the window regulator, I'd starting troubleshooting from there. Check if you left any cables unplugged inside the door.

Iv had door card off and disconnected and reconnected all cables again

Unless you have the 10-speaker sound system option, the amplifier is built into the head unit. Have you done a diagnostic scan on the Columbus unit? It may have recorded a fault.

Iv run just normal diagnostic with Delphi nothing came up

Does that scan tool support VAG protocols or just OBD?

Just OBD mate

You'll get nothing from the Columbus with that. VCDS, VCP and ODIS are the tools most people around here use. There's a thread around somewhere with a list of VCDS owners and where they're located - you might find someone near you that can help out.

No mate nothing

Screen confirmation tone when you touch the screen?

It sounds like either the coding has been reset somehow to the wrong sound system, or the radio board has blown.

No only sound i get is parking sensors which i don't think come from same speakers, how would coding been reset tho?

It's electronic, and there's always a possibility of a glitch causing problems. As said above, a scan with VCDS would help.

No worries thanks for your help

Also, re reading your post. Youhave updated the software too, which could reset the coding if you don't know what you're doing.
