Headlights

With headlights on ‘Automatic’ when driving in daytime but dull weather is there any way of knowing if the headlights are on? In dull weather the sat-nave goes to ‘Night Mode’ but this doesn’t seem to be associated with the headlights. The only way I can find to check is if I can select ‘main-beam. Any suggestions?

I have the SEL model and there are two small LED's that glow when they are lit.

I have had my SEL  for 13months and never noticed this. Thanks!!

Not received my Karoq yet but in the Octavia I usually leave the satnav on and can tell because it goes into dark mode. Will be checking for the leds tonight to see if I have them too!

The only foolproof indication is that you can’t get full beam unless the headlights are ‘on’ but this means flashing the car in front. At one time the sat nav went to night mode but I am fairly certain the headlights were not on. I assume the sat nav can go to night mode from a light sensor in the car as well as when the headlights are on. The only simple indication appears to be the controls on the steering wheel illuminating but in twilight they are hard to see. Let me know if you find anything when you get your new car.

In AUTO position, when the headlights turn on, the parking lights symbol also illuminates next to the light switch. It's really foolproof and easy to see.

Maybe in a LH drive car it’s easy to see, but I can assure you that it in a RHD it is not foolproof nor easy to see without moving arm, leg or head to see if the small  symbol is illuminated. As mentioned there was previously the green headlight symbol on the dash, now that was foolproof and easy to see.

OK, not easy to see without moving your arm/head ;) Why did they remove the on dash indicator ?

We talked this one before. Very difficult to see the rotary switch - the dash tell tale was way safer. Also they have removed the headlight adjust switch for us peasants with Halogen headlights. The Yeti I had was Xenon equipped. The Karoq SE only has the Halogen lights. Had load in back and went to adjust beams and found no switch - you are expected to trawl menus on the touchscreen which I suspect for most users just will NOT happen - I know my wife will never find it - all to save a couple of Euros for a switch and bit of wire.

Thanks for all your help on this. As pointed out by a few people the only foolproof confirmation that the headlights are on is that the green ‘sidelights’ symbols on the headlights control switch light up when the switch is set to ‘Automatic’ and the headlights are on. Today the headlights were on but the sat-nav was on ‘dayLight’ mode and all other telltails are too dim to be certain.  Thanks again.
