Towing mirrors for superb

Featured Replies

I'm about to buy a touring caravan and wondered what towing mirrors people were using, I'd like some stylish ones if possible, I've seen some milenco aero 3 ones that look good, anybody used these?

They are the one's that I use on my 2016 Estate. Not a perfect fit as they are basically universal but do the job nonetheless.

Mine are Aeros too. Not sure what model.

Buy the extra F shaped clamps for a better fit. They have a notch that tucks in the line where the mirror frame and casing meet at the top to stop them working loose.

I did try fastening them underneath but that stops the mirrors folding

I use these Milenco mirrors on my 2018 estate. I fix them to top of mirror and have no issues with wing mirrors folding etc. I have used same set of Milenco mirrors on last few cars and had no problems with them.

Apologies for jumping aboard your post, but I've just bought a 2024 Superb Estate. Delighted with the car so far, getting a towbar fitted next week. Just tried my existing mirrors that I've used with 3 or 4 cars (Mondeos and Mercedes E class) over the years without any problem, but there's no way they'll fit the Superb. Basically, the body of the mirror on the Superb is just far too big for the rubber band holding my towing mirrors to stretch over.

I'll watch the thread with interest to see what suggestions there are and I'll have a look at the Milenco model suggested.

We've got the milencos but I think they wobble too much. That's with the f pad fitted. Could look at emuk mirrors, they are more expensive but they are suppose to be very good.

What engine and gearbox have you got. I've got a 190 manual and tow a caravan that's 1450kg fully loaded and pulling away on a hill can be troublesome.

Thanks for your reply. Looking at the Milenco mirrors, I did think the fitment looked a bit fiddly. I was planning to go to my local caravan place to see if they have them, they'd probably let me try them in the car park to see how they fit. I'd seen the Emuk ones - sharp intake of breath when I saw the price! Hoping it doesn't come to that!

The car I have is the 150 diesel engine with the 7 speed auto box. My tow car for the last 8 years was a 3 litre Mercedes E Class and you would hardly have known you had a caravan on the back. I know the Superb won't be anything like as powerful, but I've towed with 2 litre diesels before with no great problem, so we'll see how it goes. Reviews from people who have towed with that model all seem very positive.

You'll most likely be ok with the auto box. The milencos I don't find hard to fit, they just slide under the mirror casing and tighten them up. They are just a big mirror on a long arm so they will wobble. To be honest I don't use them loads. Prefer the wing mirrors. They are on for legal purposes mainly.

I've found the same with my previous car, the car's own mirrors are wide enough to see down the side of the caravan most of the time, and the Skoda isn't any narrower. I'll be sorry to see my trusty old mirror go though, used them for years and they probably cost less than a tenner!

I've towed before with a Skoda 1.5 petrol Karoq with DSG gearbox. It was a bit underpowered and I had to keep it in sport mode. Probably due to lower torque in the petrol engine. Now have the Superb 2.0 litre diesel 4 x 4 estate with DSG and will be towing a 1490kg Bailey to the Yorkshire Dales in two weeks time. I've had a Milenco Falcon fly off at speed and have since been using the cheapos from Aldi with the rubber band fitting. No problems with those. Got to say, the fold away tow bar on the Superb is the best I've ever had. No more crawling under the car to fit or remove the detachable ones.
