vRS 1000 mile report

Featured Replies

I've just past the magic 1000 mile mark in my new fabia vrs! I'm still lovin it!

No problems so far apart from a slight rattle form the glove box door at 2k revs. Pressing against the door stops this so should be an easy fix.

According to the trip computer i've averaged 47.9 mpg over 1046 miles which i'm more than happy with! I have noticed that each time i fill up i'm getting slightly more miles out of the tank so i guess the engine is starting to run in nicely.

I'm still so impressed with the performance, especially noticeable accelerating up hills where my old 306 xsi 16v would have needed to drop a cog.

My journey to work involes a nice run up the A329m from bracknell to reading and it cruises with ease and feels so well planted, much like a bigger car.

Managed to embarass a few more expensive motors with the acceleration which allways brings a smile to my face! bye bye mr 3 bmw ;)

All in all i'm totally chuffed with the car! nice one skoda!

Nicely put. Im running in my 06 Black Magic vRS at the moment, am on 200miles so far and climbing!

Only niggle with me is a similarly located rattle but it has'nt happened in quite a few days so ill cross my fingers its gone :)

Question for ya: How much does it cost you for a full tank, and how many miles do you get for said tank of fuel? I have only filled up once so dont know how many miles i can expect to get from it yet...am taking it easy as running in but the onboard computer says im going to get 550miles from one tank of fuel!!!

I found the dashboard creaks are temperature-sensitive, so you get a different set of noises as the weather warms up.

The fuel idiot light comes on with 70 miles to go. Fill up at that point and you'll get about 40 litres in. 550 miles is a lot from a tank - most people actually get between 480 and 520 from a fill, more on a long run.

That. Is. Insane?

Not sure what a full tank would cost, most i've managed to squeeze in is about 37 litres, £34 ish, i filled up when it said i had about 50 miles left. With a full tank it said i would get 480 miles. I guess the computer works that out based on your average mpg.

Easily getting over 400miles out of a tank, 45 litres. Thats excellent when compared to my old 306 xsi, i would get roughly 330-350 miles from a 60 litre tank!

As i said the mpg does seem to be improving, probly as a result of the engine running in nicely.

Cheers

Steve

Glad to hear you like it - wait till after 5 or 6 thousand miles - performance and economy will be noticably better

Glad you like the car, but a standard one won't outrun any beemer bar a 316. It'll keep pace with a 318 but by time you get to 90 mph it'll leave you. If you talking cornering then maybe on the tight twisties the vRS is quicker, but the beemer really is a well balanced car and handles like a dream. I drove my work mates 323i round some twisties on Tuesday this week and it wasn't quite as urgent as my vRS (not standard) but handled very well indeed, and was a joy to drive.

Glad you like it though mate

Bought my Black Magic 2 weeks ago, just hit the 1250 miles mark ( :( ) - most expensive fill up was £40 @ 94.9 pp/litre, which gets me around 450 miles, maybe a few more if I pushed it! :)

Just another 700'odd miles and i'll be brave enough to fit my dragon tuning box :) then it will be really interesting :):D;)
