Dipping of passenger mirror when reversing

Featured Replies

I have been commenting on a similar topic over on the the Kodiaq page as I have an issue with my Superb where randomly the passenger mirror doesn't return to its normal position after dipping when selecting reverse.

If you are having this problem it seems there is a TPI dated 07/05/2019 - 2054887/1 - to fix this.

I have my car booked in next Thursday to have new software loaded, so I will let you know how I get on.

Hopefully this is useful to someone.

Thanks for this info! Exactly what I have been experiencing randomly. Dipping position is set correctly and assigned to Driver profile but one every few cases it won't go back to the driving position. Sometimes twice within a day, others once a week.  I was starting to thing I'm going crazy and forgot to set dipping mirror position.

@SaintMac do you know if it's the potentiometer in the mirror unit that's at fault?

Asking because there was a similar issue a few years ago which affected a lot of early MQB based cars, my SEAT Leon FR was one of them.

@penguin17 I am led to believe it is new software that is required.

I’m glad I’m not going mad as I get this too.

Ill have a word with my dealer when it’s next in for a service. Unless I get really cheesed off with it beforehand!

Although mine is a SII, I have that problem which is when I have reversed a couple of times (backwards/forwards. I resolve this by simply pressing my seat memory button from when I originally set the mirror position.

Danny. Yes I did sort of correlate it to the seat memory - but not every time.

Anyway you should t have to memories the seat every time you move it a bit.

Mine's been doing the same thing. I just push the button on the driver's seat my profile us assigned to to get it back, but really shouldn't have to do this.

Or if your like me the passenger mirror has never dipped when in reverse.

It's never really bothered me that much but I dare say it won't be cheap to replace or fix

Especially with BLIS onboard..

My S2's worked flawlessly

@Zenbasses this sounds like a separate problem to me, so I'd have another go at it if I were you - with apologies if you already have.

Put the car in reverse with ignition on, set the dipped position you want for the passenger mirror and save via the seat memory function (press set then a number and wait for the bong). Keep the mirror switched to the passenger side or it won't dip when you reverse. IIRC you have to repeat the set-up process every time you change the seat memory as well.

By the way - What is BLIS?

Perfect

Thanks Jeff I will give it a go later and see if that makes a difference, Ive checked the owners manual before but I never found this in there (obviously not reading hard enough if it is)

BLIS  = Blind Spot Information System

I know BLIS is technically a Volvo term but I just tend to use it for every iteration, I believe Skoda calls its 'Blind Spot Monitoring'

Just to let you know the software fix appears to have worked. One week on and the mirror is returning to its correct position.
