Help - engine management light!

Featured Replies

Just to prove that driving your car sensibly is bad i had my engine management light come on today on my way to work. Going down the road not accelerating - keeping a steady 60. The car still seems to drive fine and there's no noticable drop in power but obviously somethings not overly happy!

The car is a MK1 Octy vrs on a 52 plate which is just about to role over 60k.

Is there anyone out there in the cirencester area with vagcom as haven't had much success with the stealers round here.

Any signs of rough running or smell of unburnt fuel in the exhaust which could indicate a fauly coilpack?

  • 3 weeks later...

I`m driving with that warning for over 5000km now,

and even after resetting its coming back on after a week or so.

Started after a coilpack died and I replaced it.

Search with VAG-COM ended up with nothing so a reset again then.

I will drive with it untill next service, the garage can take a look

at it then: I advise you to do the same thing. (after a "clean" VAG-COM reading)

Greetings, Snoetje
