OBDeleven Apps (with a hint of VCDS)

Featured Replies

Hi.

Just thought I'd ask those of you who have OBDeleven have you had any issues with the preloaded (pre-programmed) apps that they supply you with on the main app that you have on your phone?

I seem to remember that some people have had issues with them, whilst others have not.

Have things improved? Or are you still getting errors?

And if so what and how do you go about correcting them.

I've got both OBDeleven and VCDS, but I find that OBDeleven's interface is much more user-friendly than VCDS which is very austere/utilitarian and TBQH clunky by comparison.

I don't like it and it stays in the case which I bought for it as I struggle to understand it and as I nearly did some damage to the car, that's where it's staying UFN, as there are few resources to help me and the links in here are pretty old and from what I gather obsolete and need updating with some step-by-step instructions and pictures to help guide you.

TIA

I think most of the issues I have come across are where App's have been added to OBDEleven based on Pre-FL MK3 Octavia's and users are trying to apply them to FL MK3 Octavia's.

Then you have people who assume that applying an App is all you need to do, where as you often have to make sure certain conditions are met and then after applying, carry out resets etc.

When I last bothered with the App's, I recall that it didn't really check the versions of the hardware/software I had, it simply tried to apply it. It's probably changed a bit since, but by the sounds of it, not by much.

That all being said, of the times I've used the App's, I'd say 95% it has worked properly.

I've never had the nerve to try the OBD11 apps, always done it manually via long-coding and adaptation. I would be more confident if it lists all the modifications it plans to do to the car for me to check before applying the changes. Rather than apply it blindfolded and then possibly need to fix things by stumble around in the dark not knowing what has been changed.

I personally think if doing it manually, OBD11 and VCDS are largely similar. VCDS has the benefit of able to follow guides to the letter. If I had splashed out for VCDS, I'd use that all the time.

As above. I’ve never used the OBDeleven apps. Always coded manually and never had a problem.

I tried a couple of the apps today comfort indicators to 5 and fan speed on auto and they have taken and work perfectly well, although I'd like to have the fan speed a bit lower than it is on auto (on maybe level 2 or 3 as standard) rather than level 4 as it is now.

Is it possible to tweak it down to those in auto? But generally very happy with it.
