Main Dealer Cam Belt Change & lack of Torque

Featured Replies

Just had my cam belt water pump ect changed by a main dearler and have immediately noticed a lack of low down Torque.

Im talking it back tomorrow and expect to be told nothing wrong with it ect ect ect

I am an ex pro engine builder and built my 1st Aston engine that came in a boxs over 45 years back  & a few V12  Jag lumps over the years and have fitted and supervised over 1000's of belt's fitted starting with XR3i's up to 2L Mondeo cdti  (my own)  last year

This is the 1st time ive ever paid anyone to change a belt.  Mainly because of water droping every where, rheumatic wrists and failing close up eyesight. + I came into some dosh.

I am used to setting up cam timing doing the job properly with dial gauges ect and swinging verniers  but at the grand old age of 75 thought i would trust a main dealer.

Ive lost about 25 bph and its noticeable on my usual test run..    Best way to handle the problem??????????   Than'sk for any advice if any   Cheers Clive

Your experience will stand you in good stead tomorrow at the dealership. As long as the belt was put on with all the dots and lines correctly positioned on the various pulleys I can't see it being a problem but have they put  any intake pipes on incorrectly. Hope you get it sorted out. Keep us informed.

Good luck, I wish I had your knowledge 🙂

I get the impression it's more likely to be a pipe/similar left off rather than a timing issue.
