Could I use ABS pump for caliper bleeding?

Featured Replies

Later on this summer I will be doing the full VCDS ABS module bleed procedure, when I have enough fluid and also a second pair of hands to do the dirty work while I remain at the wheel pressing the pedal and clicking the computer mouse.

In the meantime I have a pair of rear calipers to fit, I have already stripped and refitted one of the old ones and bled it successfully with a Chinese Mytyvac but it took a lot of pumping and it constantly sucked in air around the bleed nipple threads so you could not tell when to stop bleeding.

The thought struck me today that I could possibly use VCDS to drive the ABS pump then just open the caliper beed nipple (tube and jam jar fitted) and close it again once the bubbles stop for an easy quick one man bleed.

Can you see anything wrong with my cunning plan?

Yes, have been looking at them, they certainly seem good.

I had not realised that all modern cars use the same 44mm standardised reservoir cap, all I need is one of them to resurrect my probably 40 year old Easibleed kit.

That looks much better though.

Editted. - I cracked and bought one!

FatblokeVRS, yes I did get it a little cheaper but with very good value delivery to France which usually kills the cheapest deals.

Folkstone Fixings whom I have used before so nice to give return custom where its deserved.

Off topic but I bought this socket set from them, superb quality complete with ring spanners and crows foot spanners and they were the cheapest then.
