OEM vs MPN

Featured Replies

So I’m trying to match my drivers seatbelt to replace it after it blew. Which is the best number to use?

MPN (Manufactures Part Number) is 008R000. Comes up with various other cars, but they have different OE/OEM numbers, also looks identical. Cheaper this way.

OE/OEM - 615479200 / G6047613

And then you’ve got the 3T number on the belt which pulls up a lot....

HELP !!! 😆

For what it's worth I would go with the OEM number simply if someone has an accident in it and dies after you have sold it, you don't want the feds pointing any fingers.

Must have been some impact.

Right hand wheels went over a mini kerb/island with a sleeping policeman on. I'd imagine the sharp jolt set the sensors off on that side.

As yet it is just airbags & wheel damage. Well, the handbrake is lose as feck too.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Good luck getting it all sorted.

It was a sneeze.  It has/will cost me 2 18" alloys. 2 expensive tyres. A seatbelt. Drivers seat airbag. DS Curtain airbag. Re-upholster of seat.....probably much more. Gonna DIY where I can.

I'm pretty sure I listed the p/n for the belt in one of your other threads.

Ah ye, you did. It’s the one on the belt, the 3T number.

So what are the numbers on the reel / tensioner?

My guess is that the reel is a common part used across makes/models and has a part number assigned by its manufacturer. The seatbelt assembly includes it but has its own part number as it is unique to the Superb.

I’m going to have a look at one matching the MPN near me tomorrow, but out of an Audi. It’s worth a look, it may help someone in the future.

I work in manufacturing, and my understanding is that the vehicle manufacturer label the part under their own filing system, but still use the MPN to identify the part with the original supplier. The only variable being a trim/colour code.

Belt length is probably also a variable, as could anchorage type at each end. I'd take it that the MPN on the reel is for the reel only as supplied by its manufacturer, and that the Skoda p/n is for the assembly of reel plus belt plus fixtures & fasteners. It'd be interesting to see how different the Audi part is.

My Audi didn’t have the quick release like my Superb has on the seat anchor point.

It is bolted on the Audi, may want to check that before you commit to buy.

Prob less hassle if you get one with the 3T number the same as already fitted to yours.

It's the mount to the seat/body thats different on the Audi, and also the Octavia after viewing 2 today. @chimaera was right in his suggestion to only source from the Skoda 3T code. Ebay was 70-100 UK based, 65 EU with a long wait. I'd almost given up, when I popped 'Skoda Superb breaking' into Gumtree, and found one 2 miles away, £40. It had the airbags too which I could have done with last week.

I need a bolt to secure the seat airbag. Any idea of the size?
