on mine its both the door seals and the part under the skuttle cover below the windscreen where it gets in.

The fixes are easy and would have been applied to most MK1 Fabias ages ago. The door carriers behind the door cards just need sealing around the edges with sealant like Plumbers Gold, silicone, etc. You don't even have to remove the carriers, just the door cards. It's also worth poking a bit of wire or whatever into the drain holes in the bottom of the doors to make sure they're clear.

If it's also leaking at the scuttle it might be that the scuttle drain holes are blocked with leaves, etc, as it's quite common. You can access the drain holes by taking the plastic arch liners out.

And as Sepulchrave says, the window scraper seals are a not relevant as water is meant to get past them as they are not desinged to be fully watertight, they don't need to be because the water is meant to drain out of drain holes in the bottom of the doors.

Water is supposed to run down inside the doors and drain out of the bottom onto the sills, most cars are like this because you cannot seal the window against water ingress where it winds down.

Not everyone has a problem, my 2.0 Fabia does not wet the carpets or leak and it was built in 2001, some cars do leak but it's pretty easy to fix it permanently using a sealant on the window carrier.

And temporarily using tape on the rear doors to prove that this is the problem. Usefull during wet weather at least to give the rear floor a chance to dry out.( or let you wait till late summer to affect a repair, and floor to dry).

One of the problems with the solution during warranty was the different approaches taken by dealers. Some believed that once one door showed signs of leaks, then all doors should be guilty. My repairing dealer took the view that only either front seals or rear seals should be done ,depending on which set leaked and the repair needed either seals replacing ( if cards held in with screws) or sealing with mastic if rivited.

Yeah very interesting points and tips there from various skoda fabia owners  thanks  ☺😊😃👍👍. i used silicone on the door panels its dead easy to do and i hope that stops the water getting in at last.  the scuttle drain holes are clear i poked them out after taking wiper arms and scuttle cover off. but its still a crap design compared to other makes of car.  why have a metal door panel on a metal door panel its silly. and the fact the doors go further into the car than other makes is puzzling. the whole design is stupid. plus not enough drain holes in the bottom of the door.

It was a VW thing at the time, not just Skodas. I guess the idea was to facilitate quicker and easier assembly at the factory as they didn't have to mount many things inside the actual door, like the window regulator mechanism, just bung it all on the panel and mount the panel on the door.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

There are more than enough drain holes in the bottom of the doors, unless you're expecting a tsunami or something.
