Ooops!

A Couple of times today, In the wet as I have been turning into junctions and things I have done a couple of wheelspins. Everytime It happens there is a really, really loud bang from the front of the car. I Know someone who has an I dentical Fabia (Just in Lagoon Blue:thumbup: ) and It does it as well. Do all Fabia's do this. It sounds like it's just about to fall apart:eek:

Nothing to worry about, my octy was the same. Its the electronic differential lock trying to sort out the spinning wheels. The same effect is obtained when trying to pull away on ice, lots of worrying graunching sounds.

You are right, I can only find EDL listed on the vRS.

What about Axle tramp as the front wheels scrabble for traction.

Theres A tramp in my axle  , That could involve a run in with the law:rolleyes:

Youv'e lost me with a technical term:(

Its hard to describle, as the wheels spin the tyres momentarily appear to loose more traction, then as it regains traction there is a banging sound. the tyre sound would be (where xxxx is the squeel and yyyy represents the bang.

xxxxxyyxxxxyyxxxxyyxxxxxyy

Hope you get that, cause I am struggling to think of a way to describe it better.

I Sort of get it, Is it just the force of it regaining traction? I know the 1.4 8v can tear everything apart with it's bags of power, they really should have de-tuned it a gnats:)

680BHP In a FWD Car, what were they thinking:P

As the wheel spins it'll start to bounce, its called axle tramp. ;)

I was reading my Fabia 1.4 16V manual the other day and i turned out to have an EDL i guess thats why u head this sound.. im im wrong about that then it like wut mannyo said, the force of regaining friction

axle tramp in a fwd that'll be special.

sounds like edl thingy or a knackered cv joint or anti roll bar link ie the anti roll bar clonking off the car under heavy load.

mine made a similar noise with its broken spring

take it to kwik fit and ask them to check it itll be free and you'll know for sure if its anything mechanical

Is it really free at quickfit? If so Ill take it down there when next avaliable. If it is something like aroll bar will it be covered by warranty?

Edit: It's definatley not EDL, It's on 1.9TDI's and 1.4 16v's only

Its normal, every car I've ever owned makes a banging noise to accompany wheelspin.

It's pretty noticeable on mine now it's remapped and I've got a limited slip diff - when both wheels spin (it was wet, my foot was too heavy, etc) it bounced like a good 'un.

Easing off a tad will help a lot in lots of ways :D

My VRs has done it too, bit worrying, but it was a few thousand miles ago when i drove it like a loon....

axle tramp - not to worry... you'll even find that in 911's! All that's happening is the wheels scrabbling for grip...

what year is yours? and which red is that?

Mine is a 2002 Model.. and most probably the Corrida Red Uni
