Retrofit climatronic possible?

Featured Replies

Hi,

There are a couple of threads on this but nothing conclusive -

Is it possible to retrofit full climatronic to the Fabia (vRS in this case, but it would probably apply to the whole range presuming aircon is fitted)?

I am aware more sensors are needed for climatronic, and that you'd need a different control unit. Beyond that though, could it be fitted?

Would it be the same form factor as the existing unit?

Also, is the backlighting for it available in green to match the rest of the Furby lighting scheme?

TBH I have no idea but I would guess that as it was never an option you would struggle mate.

might be an idea going to a scrap yard finding an octy with climatronic- no worries for skoda green lighting and use the motors and bits from the octy to retro fit them into the fabia but it sounds like a huge job, i wouldnt mind it tho- the fabia aircon control panel is a bit basic lol:)

It would be the wiring up that I reckon but would be complicated. Fabia looms probably don't have the necessary wiring for the ECU to know its got climatronic, and I bet you'd probably need the convenience ECU from the climatronic'd car as well, which consequently then might have central locking / alarm implications.

Just be happy with the air-con. :P :D

This has been mentioned before.

The furby doesn't have any of the wiring , sensors or motors required so there is basically no chance of getting it working.

If youve ever seen the wiring diagram for the climatronic.... id say no

Heres half of it

8552.attach

Heres half of it

That would not look out of place as a Prog Rock Album cover ;)

Hmm yeah that kinda looks like a lot of work :o

Surprised about the motors etc though, sensors etc I can imagine but what extra motors do you need, I tought the flaps etc were already motordriven in the Furb?

Direction is manually controlled.

There is a kit to upgrade MK4 Ibiza to Climatronic in Europe.
