rolling road

Featured Replies

been on the rollers today at motorscope in northallerton. got 110 at the wheels at 3500rpm. any good?

my mate took his renault 5 turbo down and got 105 so at least i beat him!

shame i couldn't get the flywheel power. anyone know what it would be roughly using the wheel hp.

Probably about right as i think you lose 15-20% through the transmition so that`d give you 126bhp at the flywheel.

i thought it would have been better than that. ive got an analouge tuning box on it!

daz

yea i worked it out to around 127.5bhp at the fly.(front wheel drive cars lose around 25%)

front wheel drive cars lose around 25%)

Really!!

Really!!

thats what jim from star told me last week

For diesels its around 15% or less. :)

its got nothing to with diesel or petrol jason, its called transmission loss for a reason.

If your car was standard then I would of praised the lord because atleast someone is getting an accurate RR figure instead of these inflated 150 bhp vRS's we seem to be seeing

But it's odd that with an analogue tuning box it only produced that? fair enough it's a fairly cheap was of tuning a 11,000 car and won't give you many gains but I would of thought it would of brought flywheel bhp to around 150-160 bhp depending upon application.

not trying to be funny but do you have it connected right?

Actually it sounds about right - 3500 rpm will NOT hit you max bhp. Rev it higher up and you'll hit the 130 bhp quoted at the very least..

when i put the box on i could feel the difference in power but about 3 days later the car started to shudder on tickover. i put this down to the box being up too high and turned it right down. the car still shudders so im beginning to think its not the box and could be something else. ill take it off and see if it still does it. if it does its a trip to the dealers to get it sorted! then ill turn the thing right up!

well ive took the box off and it is slower than before. so does this mean my car isnt 130 standard but less? ( shuddering has now stopped)

has anyone got rr figures on there car where you got both the fly and wheel bhp so i can use this as a comparison?

cheers

what sort of "shuddering", under hard acceleration from low revvs

just on idle when the car is parked up. it must be the box due to it not doing it now.

looking at the data from the rr day

3000rpm.......100bhp

3500rpm.......110bhp

4000rpm.......95bhp

4500rpm.......90bhp:confused:

i would have thought it would have kept climing and not died at the end like it did.:(

When I had my analog box on, the idle could sometimes be a bit lumpy (noticed especially when it was cold) and I just put this down to overfuelling. I found that if you gave it a little more gas and let it idle around 1k rpm it stopped.... May well have also been down to me using cheap Tesco diesel, etc, etc....

Skoda quote peak horse power of 130bhp at 4000rpm so I'd definitely expect it to increase up until that point. There may actually be nothing wrong with the car and the rolling road is just innaccurate.... maybe worth trying to get on another one and do a run with and without the tuning box....

ive been looking at the r5 website and the feeling is that the rollers were giving low figures compared to figures they have had from other rr days.

Ahem - 160.6bhp here! ;):rolleyes::rofl:

It just gets better  :o:D

That's WITH the one-click on though, right ;)

So the One Click only improves it 10.6bhp?!

Chris

But the delivery will be more linear, it's not all about the headline figures.

those figures tom got were pre one-click
