Hi @pab567,

I’ve recently bought a 2014 Octavia Elegance, VIN is TMBKJ7NE7E0194438 and would like to upgrade to get carplay, not sure if I need to do the amp change too

Read through your old posts and believe I’ve got a MIB1 Amundsen, and would like to upgrade to MIB2 Amundsen (or Bolero not too sure on the differences) I know for carplay I also need to upgrade the usb port too

Would you be able to PM me a quote for a plug & play option? Sorry I’m a new user so unable to send myself

Thanks!

PM sent

  • If you already have sound system by Canton then better change amplifier as each of your speakers is driven separately (active crossover). Columbus can drive 4 channels (doors) via PASSIVE crossover an

  • 5E0919606 8 inch PFL Columbus or 5E0919605M 8 inch FL Amundsen are the screens that will work for you. No coding required, a small mod to a connector is required. SmartLink is about £137 from Skoda.

  • @nori you have Amundsen MIB2 MY16, non-DAB. You can use any of screens you mentioned (3V0919606, 3V0919605D), they are P&P, just note in case of 3V0919605D you will get a little space between the

Hi Pabs, I’ve got a 2013 Octavia VRS with the most basic bolero unit (it has DAB) and I’d like to upgrade to a MIB2.5, I’ve purchased a Columbus 9.2” screen. Do you sell the glovebox units, plug and play, ready to fit or do I need to buy one and send it to you? I would PM but I’m a newly registered user and that feature is locked to me.

Hi @pab567

Sorry if this has already been asked in this thread already but I just wanted to check something. I have the Amundsen MY17 unit (5Q0035874B) currently.

Will the 9.2 columbus screen work with this head unit or am I restricted to the 8"inch screen?

Thanks in advance

Hi All,

Can anyone advice me in a matter regarding adding extra usb (wanna keep free the one under the clima )

Regarding that add an extra usb port for a wireless carplay and i have received the information that i need an usb hub. Anyone have a easier idee , way ?

This means i must plug the hub with the actual original wire/plug, right ? Then use : another new cable to plug the original usb and other in the new usb ?

Need extra things to sort out, like activate or else ? I will still have same use for data/charge at original usb port and not loose it ?

Can anyone advice me in a matter of code parts nr for a hub, usb and cables if is not too much for you guys.

Octavia 3/2016/2.0tdi/Amundsen with nav.

Thanks in adavnce.

So now you have Blues or Swing MIB1 unit, with Bluetooth, without DAB, with USB 5Q0035726 and fortunately you don't have CANTON sound system.

You can install one of four different OEM glove box units:

- MIB2 Bolero

- MIB2 Amundsen

- MIB2 Columbus

- MIB2.5 Columbus

You also need to replace display unit:

- for MIB2 Bolero you can use either 6.5" model number 5E0919605H or 8" model number 5E0919605N

- for MIB2 Amundsen and MIB2 Columbus you can use listed above display as well as 6.5" model number 5E0919605J, 8" model number 5E0919606, 8" model number 5E0919605M

- for MIB2.5 Columbus the only display unit that works is 5E0919606D

You also have to replace USB port, glove box (or at least glove box insert) and add harness to connecy it all.

The question is what is your budget and which of listed below features are "must have":

- Video playback from DVD, USB, SD

- CD playback

- OEM navigation

- displaying OEM maps in Virtual Cluster (Active Info Display).

All units support SmartLink (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink), rear view camera, voice command. features that differ them:

- MIB2 Bolero - no OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB

- MIB2 Amundsen - OEM navigation, no CD/DVD drive, no video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

- MIB2 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, no support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

- MIB2.5 Columbus - OEM navigation, CD/DVD drive, video playback from SD/USB, support for displaying OEM maps in Active Info Display (Virtual Cluster)

As of now, I do not have bluetooth. I dont care about Video. And OEM maps is already through the cellphone.

But bluetooth would be nice and Apple/android play. I see some system has TPRM, that would be neat to get.

Hi, I’m new here having recently picked up a 2014 Octavia VRs. I’ve searched and seen lots of posts over the infotainment but I’m easily confused 😵‍💫 🤣..

Is CarPlay possible on my Bolero?

MIB1= No.

You need Retrofit MIB2 or aftersale solution
