Hello,

 

After visiting several forums I decided to install a MFSW in my Octavia Combi 2011 FL, so I bought a Fabia vRS 3 spoke steering wheel and installed the Superb controls. Because the steering wheel had paddles I created two covers (3d models), these still need to be printed.
 

My car has:

1. Multi function display

2. Cruise control

 

Next steps:

1. Replacing steering wheel module

2. Replacing wiring/ harness  (3T0-971-584)?

3. Programming with VCDS

 

Yesterday I connected my car to VCDS for the first time. My list showed that I have a 5K0-953-569-C (mid-line) steering wheel module. If I'm correct then I will be needing a high-line like the 5K0-953-569-H or 5K0-953-569-AL?

 

Am I missing something? And is the mentioned harness the correct one?

And on the Ross-Tech website I read that I need to copy the original coding (of the current module) and then start modifying.

I just installed the 5K0-953-569-AL in my Skoda Octavia MK2 FL but I don't see all the cruise control options... I only see 00 and 20 but I already had 10 installed... Did I buy onze with the wrong software...?

SW: 8X0 953 501 D suggests it came from an Audi A1 or similar which could be causing your problems.

 

You can try manually editing the lcode but the module might reject it, are you using the latest VCDS version?

Hmm bummer these things are hard to find...

Seems strange their isn't a line similar to "Component: LENKS.MODUL   014 0140" from VCDS. This shows the HW and SW versions. Might be a limitation of the module software 😕

 

Anyway, there are a couple on UK eBay that would probably work but I'm not sure if they ship to the Netherlands.

I did not know there are so much different hardware and software versions... Mine's a LENKS.MODUL 016 0140.

Try a reset on the module by coding it to zeros, then entering the coding you want

Just tried that but did not work at all 😞. When I did this I got an error from te stalks but didn't show me anything about the cruise control.

VW also have a stalk like that, I fitted one to a Tiguan when I fitted Lane Assist to it

But I think the steering wheel module won't fit...

 

 

Or an Audi stalk, but it does not have the Trip/ Maxidot buttons.

Oh I'm still a newbie I see... when it comes to bike parts I usually find everything 😬.

So the 5K0953502D does not have the TRIP buttons for the Maxidot, can I control the Maxidot via the MFSW?
Or do I need/ can I use something like the 3C9953502C, but this is from a Passat, that can be a problem?

Do you actually want to fit the three stalk version? You'd need to change the cover around the steering wheel for one with an extra hole.

 

With a MFSW and maxidot, the trip buttons on the right hand stalk aren't fitted. You can only code the car to use either the trip buttons or MFSW to control the maxidot, not both.

 

The stalks Ed posted look to be for a car with adaptive cruise control which might cause you issues.

I fitted the same style of stalks to a tiguan, although the stalks i fitted had the driver assistance button on the end. But the car didn't have adaptive cruise

It is also possible to cut the lower trim for the extra stalk

There might be several versions of stalk that will fit

 

I guess the question is which can you find for the least money.  stalks or a new module

 

does your car have a Maxidot?

My Octavia 1Z FL 2011 has a Maxidot, Cruise Control, Automatic wipers (rain sensor) and hopefully soon a working MFSW.

So if I read correctly, in order for the Maxidot to work with the MFSW the coding needs to be: 

1. Multi-Function Steering Wheel w/o Tiptronic and w/o Push-To-Talk (PTT) installed

2. Board Computer via Wiper Stalk not installed

 

Instead of what I now have:
1. Board Computer via Wiper Stalk installed

Well I could make a hole for the extra cruise control stalk, maybe a separate stalk adds extra comfort/ ease of use?

Yes, you need to disable the board computer via wiper stalk

 

once done, lock the car and wait till the maxidot powers down

Should work then

 

It is not so much an extra hole, but extending the current one, before you start make a template of the original shape

Okay! Just bought the 5K0953521BD stalk on ebay, €40,- is doable :).

Having similar problem. 2012 fl Octy  with cc and trip on stalks, fitted mfsw (2012 Octy) and 5k0 module (from Audi A1 2014). Now stalks not working etc.

With the 5K0-953-569-AL steering wheel module the button still don't work... Installed the new stalks and cable but no response from the buttons whatsoever. Could my aftermarket cable cause any problems? Cornering lights, assisted driving lights, needle sweep are all working.

Could it be that my Octavia is missing a wire to the BCM?
