Offside Side Mirror Lowering During Reverse

In some Golf’s 5Q0 controllers work without memory seats due to VW firmware. The mirror drop will work on any of the 5Q0 controllers but no Skoda ones have memory functions. 5Q4 door controllers are cheap enough but I have other unfinished projects that I need to spend on first haha.

Can the existing door controllers be flashed with the VW firmware? I have also read on other forums that changing the motor within the mirror to one that supports memory is also possible.

It’s the VW firmware that causes the issues. I don’t know about changing the mirror motors.

I got a Carista recently so i'm actually going to try the above and see. Seems like @SashaGrace is spot on though. My previous Golf Estate didn't have a seat memory function, but the mirrors dipped and went back into place (as long as the mirror control was set to the "L" position. My Karoq is only an SE L so I don't have high hopes...but i'll test anyway!

Mine is a 2018 SE-L and Sasha could not get it to work on mine.

Purchased 5Q4 - lets have a look.

Did you have the chance to test if it  works?

Actually , I did check and mine are 5Q4.  I got the same one from ebay   but from Seat. If I get a chance I will play with firmwares as well.

@SashaGrace do you know firmware version for 5Q4 which definitely works?

I don’t sorry. It’s still on my to do list.

My car does not have electric seat, but mirror dips when reversing (after coding)

what tool you used and which codes did you change in order to enable it ?

And what trim level is your Karoq?

Mirror motors needs to be with memory in order mirror dip to work.  Normal motor  have 3 wires , "memory motor" have different (11pin as far as I remember) connector and 7 wires connected.

Any way to know for sure that I have a normal motor instead of a memory one (without opening it to check wiring) ?

No idea yet, looks like different MQB cars coming with different combinations.
But before opening mirror I will try the last coding attempt , as per rosstech forum suggestion - https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?19559-2017-MK7R-Mirror-Dip-Issues/page2

Hi, do you know the colour of the 3 wires of the normal motor since I would like to mount a module ?

Hi, does

Hi, does anyone knows the colour of the 3 wires that operate the side mirrors? I would like to connect a module that controls the up and down (tilt) when in reverse like a lot of people would like to have.

It might sound attractive to have the mirror lowering but it can also be a PITA, inasmuch as it stays down until you drive forward at whatever speed and thus, for me at least, when I've reversed out my drive I can't see what's coming up the street behind me....so in our Karoq the option is left unticked.

Hi, I understand your statement but I'm stationed in the Continent....the beautiful Belgium where the roads are in terrible condition. The curbstone might be broken and sticking out to the side, just where you pass with your Alu wheel whilst parking and that why I'm looking for the tilting side mirror.

Cheers

I can’t get the passenger mirror to dip upon reverse gear. I have activated the feature using carista.  I have made sure the feature is ticked on the console.

not sure what am I missing here ? Should the wheels be in motion for the mirror to dip?

it's only available if you have mirrors with memory presets - yours does not, so mirror won't dip even if the option is listed

read this thread for more info..

Like mentioned before you need a memory function for the mirrors and that comes with power seats.

I'm currently working on a memory box that should be installed in the passengers door but not ready yet.
