Any ideas on how to upgrade my 1.6tdi to a larger engine size in my Monte Carlo?

Featured Replies

Hi guys I own a Skoda Fabio mkII Monte Carlo 61 plate with the CAYC engine, I’m going to be using as a project car over the next few years and I was wondering if it’s possible and what engines could I use to upgrade it from the 1.6 TDI it is currently in it into something larger? I’ve contemplated just keeping it a 1.6 with changing it for a less mileage engine as mine is now 95k and remapping and upgrading the turbo. I’ve even thought about taking the engine and drive chain from an Audi s1 and putting that in (be nice to have the 4 wheel drive lol) my main worry is electrical and how I would make it work with the car (do I need ECU from donor vehicle and will it work with original internal ecu for auxilies?) any ideas or thoughts would be useful! Looking to go crazy on this one.

Depends on how deep your pockets are. You can take the Cayc to over 300bhp.

So the cayc is capable of good power upgrading? I know there’s turbo available and obviously remapping but what else are we talking about?

Turbo, injectors, intercooler, exhaust, porting the head, cams, oversized valves, meth injection.

No idea if it would be worthwhile swapping to a CFHD from an Ibiza FR to start with?

EV conversion 😁

Buy a car with a petrol turbo engine and remap it depending on what power you are after. Even our 1.5TSi Karoq usually averages over 50mpg despite producing 148bhp and the aero of a bus.
