CLUTCH CONTROL / STALLING

Featured Replies

I am 62 years of age and have been driving manual cars all my life - my last car being a Golf 2.0 GT 140 (Manual) and have done just over 177,000 miles (clutch only replaced at 112,000 miles).

Having recently purchased a Superb estate SE Business (2016) 2.0tdi150 manual i am on occasions stalling the engine on pull away especially if i want to pull out of a junction quickly.

Apart from being slightly embarrassing it is also clearly due to the lack of control available within the clutch control linkage - NOT my ability.

Its almost like having a competition clutch installed for racing i.e its either engaged or not  !  !

Has / is anyone else experiencing this  ?

You're right, it's probably not your ability, but just the natural period of adjustment in a new car. I had the same problem for a week or two when I got mine, but muscle memory kicks in as you adjust and you'll find you can use clutch control just as effectively again very soon.
