Key Memory - What functions can it remember?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone

About to pick up my MY18.5 Superb and I'm curious as to what functions are stored into the key memory.

My wife and I will be driving the vehicle, and we will need to change a number of things each time we drive (seats, mirrors, driving mode etc)

below is list of functions that r associated/personalized to each key.

other function cut off by the screenshot are Voice Control (acoustic signals) and Navigation (home addres, alternative routes, recommended route, reminder of the lack of fuel):-

Excellent thank you.

How does it work when two keys are in the vicinity of the vehicle. Say my wife is in the passenger seat and her key is in her handbag.

I would think the system knows which key opened the doors/started the car.

Sorry, I meant if you haven't started the car yet.

Say the passenger gets in first, with their key. Then the driver gets in with their key. Driver then starts the car.  Both keys remain in pockets/bags etc.

How does it know what key to base the settings off?

Maybe whoever is not driving could keep their key in a RFID bag? I got a couple of cheap ones from Amazon that do the job. They are not a bad idea for in the house, as well.

I have a 245 Vrs with Kessy and personnel settings. When I get in the car and push the start button my name appears in maxidot. We just use the one key so I highlight my name and click on it by using the right thumb wheel in the steering wheel and click and my settings are activated. If my wife drives she presses her name to use her settings.

Oh excellent so you can choose yourself as a driver if it doesn't select the right driver?

** Edited **.  Ooppppps typo error, lets hope my only wife doesn't see the post and yes you can choose yourself as the driver, I think (without checking) you can have up to five names/drivers

I hope mine doesn't either; I told her the car has one hardcoded profile and only that person can ever drive the car.

Pity there isn't a personal setting for the wife to keep away from Kerbs, don't drive at 30 in 6th gear and to park straight. Oh!! and not to tell me to shut up......................

What config is needed for these functions to work? Is it just KESSY?

Don't know mate - but I've only been married 20 years. If the chairman hasn't cracked it then there isn't much hope for the rest of us...:D

On a more serious note, yes you just need KESSY. There is a personalisation menu in the infotainment that will guide you through it. Make sure you only have one key inside the car when you are setting it up. The final step is to attach the personalised settings to the key, by pressing (IIRC) the unlock button on the fob. It took me a couple of goes to get it to work, but it is worth persevering with.
