About a month ago i had a short shifter fitted. It has been working fine.

Yesterday i was struggling to get the car into 3rd gear. Today i can't get it into 3rd or 5th. Reverse is fine. Not sure whether this is anything to do with the short shifter or something worse.

Any advice appreciated.

A short shifter only changes the pivot point of the gear lever, I cant see how that'd affect getting into gear myself, providing it worked fine when fitted.

Sounds like something more serious, however you can always cross your fingers.

sounds more like something has come out of alignment or just loose. get it checked before thinking the worst

what kind of short shifter do you have fitted?

I would imagine it's a setup problem rather than a mechanical defect.

I am hoping it is a setup problem, but as it worked for a month not sure if it will be. Am waiting to get the car lifted so can get underneath it. If can't see anything wrong off to the garage we go:thumbdwn:

As it worked for a month it may have come loose or moved slightly.

Success! Lifted the surround removed the plate on top of the ball joint, lifted it wiggled it around a bit reseated it an hey presto all gears present and correct.

Guess it had moved a little out of line, thanks for all help
