After 6 years away from Skoda, I'm returning to both the Octavia and Briskoda. Been spending the last few days looking at 1.6 diesels from 2015/16ish. Although slightly distracted reading about the 1L petrol too 🙄

Welcome back.  1.0 tsi is a surprisingly powerful engine but I'd be concerned how well these smaller engines hold up long term.   My wife has a 1.0 Octavia and although she loves the Octavia, she hates the 1.0 and will be trading back to a 1.6 tdi or a 1.5 tsi.  Fuel consumption not as good as claimed in everyday driving either.

A warm welcome back to the Forum !  I have the Octavia 1.5TSI and although there seem to be problems within VAG from this engine, mine has been fine, albeit on low mileage.

Thank you - settled on the 1.6 TDI and will look to find one of the next couple of weeks. It's now just a matter of manual or automatic.
