Kodiaq - L&K / Sportline

Featured Replies

Hi all

Apologies for the double post, i did also put this in the 'about to buy' forum but think this is better suited so mods please feel free to merge (and apologies!)

We were close to buying a Sportline today but having done some more research this evening think the L&K is much better value for a VERY similar looking car with a few extra options as standard. But i have some questions which hoping some experts here can help with;

- We notice the L&K comes with Chrome trim. When speaking to Skoda online they have said we can personalise the car and request to make it black trim. Has anyone done this with experience and can explain how easy this was, where there additional costs involved? We feel the black car with black trim looks better.

- The Sportline with our options selected (Lane Assist with Blind spot detection, ACC, heated front and rear seats, electric passenger seat, heated windscreen, family pack etc.) comes in at over £45k (RRP). The L&K is coming in at a much lesser £40k and has many more features as standard including some of those i was selecting as options above (Lane Assist, electric passenger seat, heated windscreen) and you get the bonus of some really pricey options such as pano sun roof and 360 degree cam. The L&K is therefore much better value than the sport line. Am i missing something obvious?

- Is the bodykit on the L&K the same as sport line? It looks identical in the pics on the Skoda website but their online chat says there are 'subtle differences'. Can anyone elaborate on this?

We'd love to add more options to the L&K but currently it's coming in at £39,960 RRP so can't unless i want to be stung by Her Majesty on £455k per annum road tax.

Thanks in advance for any help

Apologies - clearly not £455(k) for road tax!

Basic Kodiaq's (S, SE) get mat back / rubber window trim...

As does the SportLine...

The SE L, Edition, Scout and L&K get chrome effect...

I am not aware of a factory option to upgrade the window trims on any UK sourced Kodiaq.

The MkIII Superb SportLine gets a glossy black trim, but I've not seen this on a Kodiaq...

Skoda UK very, very rarely allow any deviation from their regular specification. If the trim cannot be altered on their online configurator then they are unlikely to put in a request to the factory to have the chrome trim omitted on an individual build. Worth asking though, and if they've already hinted its possible then save your 'Live Chat' transcript and push the subject with Skoda UK. I can't see the option to alter the window trim online.

Each to their own but I quite like the chrome contrast against the black paint on the L&K, especially the vertical fins on the front grill that are unique to the L&K...

 I am biased though! :D

All current Kodiaq bumpers are very similar in styling across the range. The SportLine gets more colour-coding than the lesser specs, but then the L&K also benefits from increased colour-coding of the bumpers (and lower doors, as per the SportLine).

Any physical differences will be limited to the front and rear diffusers.

Thanks for coming back to me!

So apart from some extra extra colour coding are the bumpers on the sportline the same as L&K? They look it in the pics I can’t see any difference.

Re changing colour of the trims the dealer says this is something they would have to do rather than factory and would be silly money (and a messy job). Basically told me not to do it.

I'm not a betting man, but the bumpers are likely to be identical. Even if they're not, if we can't see the difference in the images above then any changes are insignificant.

What marks the Sportline out from the other models (at least externally) is the extra colour-coding (which the L&K also gets), the black mirror caps, bigger 20" wheels and the fake chrome exhaust trim (again, the same as on the L&K).

If the chrome is an issue, I'd be tempted to get it wrapped, a relatively quick and low cost option these days, as the process is becoming quite popular...

Legend.

The L&K is such better value by the time you add some of the preferred options into the sportline when pricing up and comparing models with my dealer.

I can live with chrome around the side windows but I’m going to see what the damage is if the dealer replaces the front grill with a black one upon delivery!

Sorry another question

on the sportline we were looking to add ‘rear view camera’

does L&K have this or only 360 area view?

With Area View you get the rear view camera as standard (plus one on the front grill and another two under each door mirror, so four in total)...

So yes, the L&K gets the rear view camera as standard...

Super helpful thank you 😁

FYI dealer quoted me £350 all in to replace chrome grill with black. Think I’ll pass and stick with chrome!

If you need to add options, then the L&K is indeed much better value than the SEL and Edition trims, never mind the  Sportline! And don't forget the higher VED threshold is based on the recommended total list price, and not the OTR price :)

Not according to What Car

I think What Car is confusing the issue there!

OTR costs DO include tax and registration fee!

L&K being ordered tomorrow!!

extra option include;

ACC

rear back seat release

road sign recognition

virtual cockpit

front isofix (just in case!)

comes in just below £40k RRP

Did you do this and get it done?

Prices increased earlier this week

I have an open question with my dealer on L&K

OTR Cost L&K from Configurator is £40,355 - Base RRP Car - £38,040 + £1120 Options = £39,160 RRP + OTR + VED

Will let you know how the dealer sees this and the 40K limit..

The VED is calculated on the P11D value of the car and any factory fit options you require.

So currently a 2.0 tsi L&K P11D value (from the pricelist) is £38,425, but the OTR is £39,010.  The OTR price includes the 1st year VED and Registration fee (£585).  These are NOT included in the HMRC cost on which the tax threshold is calculated.

So to calculate what HMRC regard as the value of your car for tax purposes, take the P11D value and add any factory fit options selected (these include service packs and extended warranties if you choose them).

In SimonAudis' example above the value on which tax is calculated is:

P11D £38,650 + £1120 options = £39,770

He will pay this value plus 1st years VED and Registration fee- so the invoice value will be:

OTR £39,235 + £1120 Options = £40,355

Therefore the cost of 1st Years VED and Registration is:

OTR £39,235 - P11D £38,650 = £585.

The seats alone is worth getting the Sportline - just saying.

Not if you have kids in the back that suffer from travel sickness, they make it quite a bit harder to see through the windscreen from the back seats.

The puke can shoot through that hole between the seat and the headrest too. Bloody horrible when that runs down the back of your neck.

Thanks for everyone’s help.

we have ordered the following :

MY20 2.0 TSI 4x4 DSG

L&K edition Moon white

Isofix front passenger seat

rear back seat release

virtual cockpit

road sign recognition

childrens pack

14-15 weeks

Whilst there are features of the sportline I do prefer (seats, wheels) the L&K represents better value for us because of the options we would have had to add to the sportline

And the driver assistance pack 👍

Congrats!

The new 2.0 TSI is a masterpiece, you will not regret that choice.

Is it the ea888 engine? I have a 245 octavia at moment, believe its same engine, different tune, decent motor, thirsty as hell though when you want to progress quickly.

Do you have a 2019 WLTP GPF 2.0 TSI?

Our fuel economy is remarkable actually, much better that the previous 1.8 TSI.

My dealer said 11 weeks when talking with them yesterday - looking at a Blue L&K - 2.0 TDI 4x4 DSG

Traffic Sign Recognition

Driver Assistance Pack

Folding Tables

Virtual cockpit

Driver Alert

Personalisation

If dogs fit - will hold a week before ordering to get the additional £1000 discount.

No Gpf, it's a 67 plate. Drive normal over maybe 500 miles average around 30-35mpg, drive enthusiastically 20-25. Such a wide variety of tunes on engine. I've opted for 190 tdi for my kodiaq due in sep, nothing against tsi just thought tdi would suit car. Horses for courses.
