Reversing stutter

Featured Replies

The other day, I put my auto in to reverse to reverse out of a parking spot and it didn't want to go anywhere. It was as if the handbrake was on. I put it back in park and put it in reverse again and it stil didn't want to move. I gave it a little more throttle and it reluctantly reversed but I could feel juddering as it did it. The sort of juddering you get when a 4x4 has its diffs locked and you are turning a tight circle (a bit specific I know). But the it drove forward fine and then reversed fine for the rest of the day.

Any ideas what it might have been?

DSG has hill hold for 2secs it wasn't on an incline/slope at all? If not your handbrake could be binding a little or need adjusting.

You don't have rear traffic alert on your car by any chance? On the odd occasion my car will hesitate in reverse, it's as if the wheels have chocks under them.

Handbrake on?
