Clutch slave cylinder - location ??

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I've got a 2013 manual gearbox & have just completed a brake fluid change. It went smoothly enough up to the point of trying to change the fluid on the Clutch slave cylinder - I can't find the bloody thing!

Any pointers would be appreciated!

Regards,

Leo

Which engine?

its the CFFB, 140hp

If it’s a 2.0 it’s inside the gearbox. However the bleed screw is by the starter motor.

Many thanks, is it easy to get to?

Is the procedure just to open the bleed screw & let it drain until the fluid looks new?

Needs to be pressure bled.

OK, not great. I've only got the simple bleed kit..

Thanks for the info

My Superb must be a special edition, it self-bled last December................when the cylinder let go and poured fluid all over the driveway.....!!  😞

This can happen with a short clutch hydraulic circuit where the master cylinder is much higher than the slave and there are no locations in the slave cylinder or any pipework for air to linger - which can include the bleed tube within the bell housing.

I think most versions of the manual Superb II have a concentric slave cylinder - inside bellhousing. However the 1.4tsi version  has an external slave.
