Dealer Servicing - Edinburgh Area

Featured Replies

Hi

Not been on for while, too busy enjoying many miles of fun!

I've had a dip into the Dealer reviews section but can't find too much up to date info on experiences with dealers in the Edinburgh area with regards to servicing, so just looking to see if anyone out there with anything more up to date.    I purchased the car in Nov 18 in South of England (so that's a non starter! ) and am just coming up for an oil service under the warranty / 2 x free services.

Arnold Clark at Seafield are the closest and I would normally avoid but trying to keep an open mind.  Chathams were always well regarded but now part of WestEnd and again unsure since they have grown/merged and moved into Sighthill (which is a PITA to get to for me).

@Kenny R  I know you are East Lothian based, any recent experiences?

Also keen to get any decent indy specialist recommendations for anything non service related when it comes up.

Cheers!

Hi,

I did the same as you, brought my car last Nov down south, but needed my service in April. I used West end garage in Stirling, They did a full check (even have a video) and sorted out a couple of niggles i had. i would reccomend them for you

I bought my previous Yeti and current Kodiaq at West End Skoda Sighthill and both have been serviced there as well, and would recommend them.

As to Arnold Shark, I wouldn’t trust them to service my grandsons pushbike.

Long term customer of WestEnd, in Uphall originally and now both Sighthill and Stirling

have no complaints about the work carried out at either branch, but a mixture of experiences with the staff/timing at Sighthill

you can see my "complaint" in the dealer review section,

and I've never used them for servicing since, but more because the car is old enough that it doesn't really matter, and there are other garages closer to me which seem to be as good, and are cheaper.

however, since then my wife's Fabia needed work done under warranty, (turbo actuator ? some sort of valve "stuck" and put car in limp mode) courtesy car was provided and work was done. Her car was actually driven back to us by staff who live locally to us and has kids at same school. at handover we noticed that the paintwork was  damaged (scratches on C pillar) whilst in their care, so the lady just jumped back in and said to keep the courtesy car, and she dealt with getting the paint fixed and dropped the car off when ready

Stirling is more convenient than Sighthill for us, as my wife works nearby, and we've also had (free) stuff done there (seatbelt issues on Fabia, my Octy got the diesel "fix") without issue,  but the Sighthill "neighbour" did say that if we do ever need/want more servicing or work done at Sighthill, she can do the same thing with dropping off/collecting our car and we don't need to actually go ourselves.  A bit of a better customer service attitude than my experience a few years ago.

I use West End in Dunfermline (it’s 5 mins away from me) for 5 years and they’ve always been fine. Never been pressure up-sold anything and the one warranty job was dealt with swiftly.

The only negative is parking is an absolute pain in the hole. Few spaces and they are tight. I believe they’re planning on moving though in the near future so that may be sorted.

😁  Cheers!   I thought as much!

Thanks for the reponses, I had hoped that AC might have been a bit better than the usual as they are on my doorstep in East Edinburgh, which makes Dunfermline and Stirling  a bit too far.  Will head to WestEnd Sighthill and report back in due course.

Cheers

Can recommend Henrys Skoda if you're prepared to come to Glasgow.

Good service, honest advice and no aggressive upselling.
