PDI-ing dealer for PCH vRS keen my car needs a service right now!

Featured Replies

My car was delivered to me having covered 89miles from Milton Keynes to Farnborough by delivery driver on the 6th Nov last year. However the dealer who did the PDI-ing for VWFS in Milton Keynes text and emailed me today to tell me my car is ready for service. I don't think so. I will however get onto the Skoda Driver Line to confirm the car needs a service locally to me, not in MK and in Nov 2019.

Anyone else have anything odd like this from 'supplying dealers'?

It’s predictive marketing based on their PDI date is all I’d imagine.

What does your car say?

This is bonkers based on calendar.

My local dealer does similar thing, about 6 weeks before anniversary of previous work, but someone actually phones trying to get you to book it in

See what the car says, then use your own common sense, many will say do oil change every year or 10-12k miles.  The long life computer will suggest about 18k miles or 24 months.

Long life servicing is generally a poor choice if you intend to keep it years and don’t want extra replacement parts 50k miles upwards, but if it’s a lease car and someone else will inherit the problems, then may as well go long life.  Skoda has no liability for cars over 6 years old, they want to sell you a replacement, not encourage you to keep it going 15 years with generic spare parts.

I had a similar thing - bought from Cambridge but I live in the North West. Car was serviced and had it's first MOT just before purchase, but a year later received contact about getting booked in for a service and MOT. They clearly work off an automated system with future calendar entries. System updated following conversation with a human and never contacted again.

@Scotty72

What does the car service indicator show?  Have they reset the Service to fixed, 9,400 miles / 372 days or is it still on variable as it arrived at them.

24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles which ever is soonest.

For 2 years after we bought our car from Sparshatts Botley they phoned me to say the service was due - this despite being told we now lived in Devon and to remove our details from their list. I had to remind them of GDPR...

I'll check the car again but last time I did I was pretty sure it was on variable servicing - however I did remember seeing a day count, I don't use the car daily for commuting. I'm on a 8k a year PCH and to be honest unlikely to even hit that (car has done about 2800miles currently).. seems like the car should be on fixed servicing but in any case I'll do less than 10k miles and therefore require a service when the car is 1 years old i.e. that says early Nov to me.

Loads of time before a service is needed then.

I got this kind of crap every year from Skoda Customer Services. I had to point out my car was on variable service but they never updated their records.

So I no longer drive a Skoda and will NEVER buy another VAG car.
