Due to the very hot weather this week my mirror was wobbling about so I pulled it off and now need to stick it back. I've tried Araldite- avoiding the centre part where there looks like there is a sensor for something, but it wont stick, even using tape to hold it in position. It looks like there are only the two side parts of the mirror base which can be glued. What is the best way of gluing it back on? Thanks

Figured out I can separate the base from the heavy mirror part, will try to glue the base to the windscreen with araldite and tape it on overnight

The araldite worked. Then to reattach the body of the mirror to the base just locate the 4 metal tabs maybe 10 degrees anti clockwise and click it back in. Simple when you know what to do! 

After my mkII was written off in an accident, I needed to remove my Severn Tag and stick it on the screen of my mkIII.  I bought from somewhere (eBay, I think) a sticky pad specifically for attaching mirrors to windscreens and it stayed permanently fixed until the tolls were removed at the end of last year, though I appreciate the tag is lighter than a mirror.

I think I have damaged the windscreen wiper sensor as the intermediate setting doesn't work now! DOH!
