Reset inspection service indicator - problem

Featured Replies

OK I've tried the usual method:

1. Hold 0/0 reset button

2. Turn ignition on (but not start engine)

3. Service reset? appears

4. Release 0/0 reset button

5. Service has been reset (or something like that)

But I still get "service now!" when I turn engine on/off. If I look in the service section of infotainment the Oil change has been reset but the Inspection service hasn't!?! Any help appreciated, the constant bonging is driving me nuts 😖.

You need VCDS or similar to reset the inspection timer.

Would Torque App work? Not sure I can live with the bonging  :wall:

Needs to be something that can interrogate the modules and get into 17 Instruments to set the SIE interval.

I don’t want to contradict Sasha, but I thought it could be reset using this method, but it will only reset to 12 months/15000 km fixed interval and vcds or similar was needed for variable service intervals ?

Try searching for it on YouTube, I’m sure there’s a couple of how to do it guides on there.

If I can remember correctly, when you get to point 3 in your post if you continue holding the reset button the option should change from reset service to reset inspection or something similar. You then need reset that option. You have to be quick though as it changes fast. At least that is what happens on my vehicle.

That's what I thought as well but it doesn't ... it never changes to reset inspection - just continues to say reset service! Will continue to have a play. (I recently had my car re-mapped, maybe they buggered something up)

What’s the model year of your car ?

Octavia 2.0 TDI SEL
Hatchback (2013) 5E Manual

Just had a look in the manual and it seems on Model Year 2013 year you can’t reset the inspection interval with the buttons but on MY 2014 onwards you can...(Sasha, of course, was right !)

It explains why I was able to reset mine as it’s a MY15.

This is the procedure to reset by the buttons

Step 1 - switch off ignition

Step 2 - hold button 3 and simultaneously switch on ignition

Step 3 - release button 3 and press it again

Tried all the options, nothing works, will have to wait until it goes in to a dealer for something in future. B@stard 😬

It should reset via holding never had a problem on Octavia for a fixed service reset.

Turn ignition on then off wait until all check lights have gone off press & hold & wait it comes up oil service reset then service reset. Let go & repress.

To reset an inspection service indication, first turn on the hazard warning lights, and then do the usual reset procedure.

That works with Fabias....

When you say turn ignition on, then off that's the opposite of all other advice. Will try that in morning.

Sorry late night turn on then off  wait until lights in center of dash go out then turn back on keeping hold of button. Also at times as the post above I try hazards as well but have never used odis to reset a fixed service on an Octavia.

OK so this is what happens when I try and reset, this behaviour doesn't match any of the things written in the manuals:

1. Ignition off - no display on maxidot

2. Hold down "0/0 Set" button, turn ignition on (not engine on though)

3. "Service Reset?" appears on maxi dot.

3a. If I let go it says "Service reset" then immediately bongs and says "Service now"

3b. If I continue to hold it bongs and says "Service now" then goes back to normal maxi dot display

Inspection service never appears on maxi dot, so don't get a option to reset. Looks like it is not an option on this car (2013) as previous people have said.

Even though it says in my manual that it is possible, following the procedure above. Simply clever.

@vRSWitter

My head hurts.

?

Is it as simple as your car on Variable / Flexible servicing as set last time it was serviced so you can do nothing in the car with the buttons, hazards or black magic?

My head hurts too. According to manual even if you are on flexible servicing resetting with the buttons will work but just put you back onto normal fixed servicing ... my car just does does not do what it says here. The only possible option is diagnostic reset with software.

Because that does not apply to your car and the Germans have never been able to translate to Czech, Spanish or English and produce owners manuals that are appropriate to every or many models.

So is your car due a Service or not?

Do you want it changed to Fixed Servicing by that 'Factory Trained Technician' or Fitter with all the gear and an idea?  Good luck with that.

To quote my own earlier post, the screen shot above is from the workshop manual for MY13 cars and seems to be exactly what your car display is saying.

Unfortunately the workshop manual says “the inspection interval cannot be reset using the buttons!”

Are you pressing the right hand side of the button (3 in the diagram) ? That’s the only thing else I can see to try, as the manual describes pressing the left hand side (1) for some other functions, and (3) for service resets.

Car has been serviced - by me - and now I can't get rid of the dreaded bong, is all. Guess I'll have to live with it.

I think its pretty ****ty of Skoda to supply a manual that does not apply to the car it comes in.

I mean what else is wrong - and how am I supposed to know? Oh, by the way this bit of the manual does not apply to your car.

Yep, I think you got it right first time. On my car it cannot be done, if only I'd bought a car that was 12 months younger I'd be OK. Go figure.
