LOW PROFILE SCOUT WHEELS AND TYRES CHANGED AT LAST

Featured Replies

Driving down a local high street in my Scout earlier this year was like traversing the craters of the moon, with each pothole seemingly trying to break the car in half, I thought to myself this cant go on!

I bought at a cost all in of £161 ,4 standard Roomster alloy wheels in good condition from a scrapyard in the Midlands via e bay, which arrived by courier wrapped up and protected by numerous layers of cardboard and black plastic wrapping.

The tyres were dubious so I replaced them with 4 Comforser 195/55R15 COMFORSER CF510 85V from ASDA tyresat a cost of £161.

It has transformed the car,the ride being much smoother. . The potholes are still there but they don, t crash through the car as they did before.

Should have done it years ago.

Also added a DAB RADIO adapter from Aldi, which also takes a micro card  with all my home CD music loaded on it.Never thought much of the Dance radio/cd ,but now it sounds really good to listen to,using the line in direct.

I tell you what, my eyes seem to have got better, I can now read whilst not wearing my glasses.    Its a miracle ....................

Yes, the difference in ride between my Scout (16" wheels) and my SE (15" wheels) was the difference between chalk and cheese.  For some reason best known to Skoda, they fitted 16" wheels to the Scout with no option to specify the 15" wheels fitted to other models.

It was the same with my Yeti.  SE models upwards fitted with 17" wheels with no option to specify the 16" wheels fitted to S models.

If I should decide to replace my Yeti with another Skoda, then I will insist Skoda UK or the dealer fit the smallest wheels approved for the model range, whether optional or not.  This time around, it will be a deal breaker.

Just a thought @bobspark have you notified your insurance company of the change of wheels?

I've always regretted selling my Roomster Scout.  Best car I have owned in fifty years of motoring.

Yes informed insurance before purchase by telephone ,I don,t think they really understood and listed wheels as non standard alloys ,but at no cost to me which was the important thing.

Normal sized text this time ,so if Auric can,t find his glasses some kind person will have to read it for him.
