southern irish car insurance

Featured Replies

hi:)

does anybody out there from the republic know of a good insurance broker or insurance company?

I'm trying to reduce my preimiums from huge amounts to not so huge!!! Ive asked if fitting a thatcham approved alarm or immobiliser or even tracker would help....computer says no!!! apprentaly for most insurance companies over here it doesnt matter what alarm you have... if any!!!

I have my girl friend on my policy which brought it down a good bit but not enough...Any suggestions?

kit:)

Try www.insure.ie . Won't do any harm.

You could try AA Ireland on 01-6179950. They have been the best broker for me for the last 3 years.

i,m with eglestar they are ok,, ...a little tip down south ed is tel them you have become unemployed premimum saposed to *** down:thumbup:

I am with One Direct, and they are quite cheap, but I'm over 30... so that helps.

I got mine with www.tesco.ie, its through Hibernian. I was with a broker before on Mk1, when I got a quote for new car they wanted 500 euro extra, why ? because the Mk1 was insured incorrectly (their fault).

I tried Hibernian directly and they started off giving the wrong grouping then the quote was 100 Euro dearer than the Golf Gti, the big problem was the car wasn't on their system. Funny enough though www.tesco.ie have the exact model on it. I got mine for 1156 with SWMBO on it, it didn't cost any extra and didn't drop (because she has a full license), but if she gets her full license I'll get the insurance for 856 Euro. Not bad me thinks :D

Btw I shopped around loads of places.

Beware of some quotes, one place has an excess of 4500 Euro.

Heres a list of companies I put together when looking, although it always comes back to the same underwritters.

Car to let us know on the Company that offered this? Mine's due next month.

  • Author

hi :)

it was thru mike murphy insurance who are now insure.ie the insurance company is axa.

k:)

I pay 760 with insure.ie but i'v got full use of a company car without the company car it was 900.....

  • Author

from what ive found, E812 with no claims protection is not too bad at all!!!:) One main problem you have to look out for is the classification on an octy RS,with axa and hibernian its marked down as an L&k turbo!!!

Did you get the proposal form yet ....... they put the Mk2 vRS in same grouping as a Fabia on the form (no offence to fabia owners but how the **** does that makes sense ????), the ****ing job I had trying to tell the operator.

Try www.tesco.ie, they use Hibernian and have the RS on there list. bte Tesco were about 200 Euros cheaper than hibernian direct.

managed to get mike murphy to pressure axa into nearly matching hibernian directs price....10E out:) so have decided to stick with them.I can tell a horror story about hibernian!!!!!! it would put you right off them.If your with a broker tell them youve done some research yourself and ask them to contact the insurance companies themselves!!! get a quote then go back a few days later and put the pressure on.....the price soon drops!!!:) axa originaly came in with a price over

E1052.....now all of a sudden its E750!!!!

I'll give ya a reason, they are insurance companies, they are a law onto themselves and if you don't like it you can go to another one who'll rip you off just as easy  rant over :D:thumbup:
