Brake conversion Felicia pickup

Featured Replies

Not long got my 2000 Felicia pickup it has already had the front brakes converted to ford mondeo and they work well

but I was given rear brake callipers along with discs and pins to fit to the rear was told they were from a vr6 not sure exactly what

i have not tried to fit them yet don’t think it will be that much of a problem Barr the cables just don’t think the original ones will fit and not sure what to go for is this a common conversion that someone can point me in the right direction before I give it a go 😊👍 p.s I know it don’t really

need them but it will look cool 😊 sorry posted in wrong place wanted to put in classic Skoda but don’t know how to move it

I've just done this, but press "Report post" then select the "Thread in wrong forum button", press send, and wait for a kind moderator to move it.

No idea about fitting VR6 rear discs to a pickup though.

No kind moderators available so I had to do it! ;)

:D

The handbrake cables you want are ATE 24.3727-2508.2. These have an outer length of 1470mm and and inner length of 1782mm. It took me a while (and some help) to identify these, but they are now fitted on my Caddy and working well.

Thanks for your help 👍I have the callipers and discs but no backplates other than VR6 I have no idea what they would be From do you have any idea as I would like backplates or may have to mod originals, would be grateful if you could give me anymore info thanks again

As far as I know, the VR6 rear brakes are no different to those fitted to mk2 or mk3 Golf GTi, SEAT Ibiza mk2 GTi or mk3 Cupra, or 6N/6N2 Polos with rear discs fitted.

I too am making this conversion and posted a 'help' question just now without seeing your post.

I guess they should be joined up.

I am interested in what you say Bete Noir about the rear brakes being the same all the way through the Mk1 - Mk3 models. There are many references to this (citing four and five stud hubs being all that is different) yet old posts on this subject distinctly quote using Mk3 hubs and Mk2 discs and not a lot about calipers! You must have gone through the same with your Caddy - will you share exactly what you have in the way of components please?

Nu99et was a great help on my front conversion and think he did a rear conversion, but not sure if he still posts here.

I Have now fitted the rear brakes to my Skoda Felicia pickup (mk2 Caddy) I used mk3 golf backplates mk 3 golf stub pins or stub axles if you want to call them that also the discs the callipers I would think are from the same but the part that know one told me was that you use the original handbrake cables but they are short and you will need spacers to extend them they are available from a company called Retrofication they specialise in caddy’s and sell the spacers and stub pins both on eBay and on their own site if there is anything else I can help you with please ask good luck it is a simple job if you have these parts o and you will need to make up brackets to support where the original metal pipe meets the flexi pipe I found I could just straiten the original pipe and use it rather than make a new pipe hope this is of some help to you

Thanks!

Yes, it seems that I am sorted now as I found a supplier in Germany who can send over a complete Mk3 kit. Thanks for the offer of help!
