Greenlight Insurance

Featured Replies

After looking around the forums here I decided to give them a call as my insurance is due for renewal and I want an insurance company that is Mod friendly As I am looking at getting a remap and Eibach Springs etc :D

Anyway, spoke to them today about the possibility of insuring my VRS if I was to have a remap, Eibach Springs, Cupra 160 air intake and Green filter fitted and ...... The computer say NO

When talking to them they said they are no longer willing to insure the Fabia VRS anymore :( & that they have had a lot of write offs from Briskoda members

Here's the e-mail confirmation I received from them......

Dear Mr Andison

We thank you for taking the time to complete an online quotation enquiry.

Unfortunately the details entered into the system do not fit the required criteria for our specialist schemes.

However, if the vehicle is standard or only has a few minor modifications, we would recommend that you contact A Quote on 0800 298 2836 who should be able to provide a competitive quotation for you.

Additional Information:

We no longer quote Skoda Fabia VRS's due to our bad claims experience on this model over the past 2 years.

Sorry we are unable to help. :finger:

Still looking around at the mo and the best quote I have had was from Chris Knott - £529. (EDIT : this is based on the car having all the wish list Mods detailed above)

I'm 35 4 yrs no claims & no convictions but my girlfriend has to be included..... passed 2 yrs ago but also has convictions or accidents either! Does this seem about right?

Elephant, who I'm with at the moment , won't touch it if I remap it! ok with the rest though! Any suggestions on who would be best based on recent experience???

Cheers

Duncan

pay about £450.

so yours sounds very expensive

mine will go down to less than £350 later this year[/quote']

Ah  .... I don't thin k I made that bit clear enough..... The £529 quote is based on the car being remapped to approx 170-180 BHP, Eibach Springs plus the air intake and filter!!! I told them that the car was standard at present but I wanted the quote as if the work had already been done! IS this about right or ... too high!!

My current insurance is with with elephant & no mods it came to £298 for the 10 month accelarator plus with my girlfriend as a named driver!

Duncan

Try putting an older person on your insurance as a named driver, your mum or dad as an example. This can bring premiums down a little bit

My quote is 266 pounds a year, fully comp, with dad (age 60-odd) as a named driver. I am 31 and married (also helps insurance costs to be married). I have 4 years NCB and the address is rural.

With Dad as main driver (same address for comparative purposes - he has max NCB also) and me as named driver his quote was only 90 quid less!

Edit: NU Direct insurance, in case anyone wishes to try them

have a root through the forums - greenlight are excellent, but don't touch fabia vrs's anymore. too many remapped single car accidents apparently with the company they normally use (highway?). i've used GL for years and only swapped to Chris KNott this year as they don't touch remapped skodas anymore........

I had the same thing with Greenlight. Chris Knott came in at 450 for me so sounds about right with all the mods. plus they didn't charge extra to pay monthly.

Dont worry Im 19 and paying 1500 for my insurance.high i know.

Ben

vRS remaped, lexus lights,

Anyone got a contact number or a link for this Chris Knott please? Before I take the plunge with NU I'd like to give them a try

Thanks

Have you tried adrian flux?

I've got an online quote for a standard vrs for

I'm with Greenlight at the moment with a modded fabia, I've heard the same that they will not touch fabia or rovers for that matter.

I think I will give them a call to make sure I wont have any issues with my policy.

Just spoke to them, they will honour their current customers insurance but they cannot confirm if they can re-insure. The companies that they use have had too many claims on the Skoda Fabia vRS so they will not insure them anymore.

Only time will tell if other insurance companies will follow this.

That's weird as I'm pretty sure Chris Knott is underwritten by Highways Insurance (at least my policy was last year when I had the Fabia)!

Chris

I'm with Elephant at the moment (24 with 1yr no claims) and they'll quote me for a remap which is +25% if it's 26% or above they need a phone call conversation to decide. 162.5bhp would be the limit then?

Chris

Yep, mine is underwritten by highways. can't work out these insurance companies you seem to get a different answer depending on which day of the week it is.

Also elephant wouldn't touch me with a remap:confused:

Remember, Greenlight are only the broker you will find (as I am going through a claim as we speak) that the insurance company is usually someone like Highway Insurance.

I wonder if Greenlight will continue to insure modified vRS policies on renewal time or if they will allow more modifications to be allowed, surely they can't just cancel your policy at renewal time because they have a bad track record with other owners and would be obliged to continue your current insurance policy should you choose to stay with them.

On a side note, provided you are willing to put a lot of leg work into sorting out claims you will get a good price. However don't be under the assumption that their claims procedure is anything like a main insurer as they appear to have several 3rd party companies that you need to go through in order to get your claim sorted (and this is a no fault claim!!).

Still for the time being I am happy with the level of service provided by each & every different person I speak to when trying to resolve my insurance claim. So far I have spoken with "One Call", "Highway Insurance", "Greenlight", "Auto Imdenity" and my own Skoda dealers who will be repairing the vehicle.

What I can't work out is why I had to report the claim to "One Call", gave all my details, after a week of hearing nothing I called "Highway Insurance" and went through their claims procedure. Highway are the people who fix the car so where do "One Call" come into it?

It's a renewal. So they could simply state that they will not renew your policy. It's not cancelling it as it's only a years contract. In essence all they do is offer you a quote for another year, nothing is to stop them telling you they do not insure your car anymore, and not offer you further insurance.

Makes you wonder what would happen if most insurance companies took this angle at the same time. A lot of people could have a lot of problems.

Which is why it's worrying that there are people smashing up their vrs's and ruining it for the rest of us :(

Indeed, my previous insurer (Direct Line) wouldn't even touch the vRS until I have 3 years no claims.

Worrying thing is, if elephant go this way and won't renew my insurance at the end of this term, then my insurance cost will (at the least) double. And that's a scary thought considering I have done nothing bad with my car.

I think insurers are wising up to the low insurance group of the vRS in a similar way they did with the Saxo VTS.

I may call Greenlight and find out if they will continue to insure my car once the all the cuffufle is sorted with the guy who rammed my rear :D (I'm talking about my car you dirty b@stads ;) !!!)

already spoken to them they will re-asses it close to the re-newal time. at the moment they are not taking on anymore customers with Fabia vRS..................hence my post about changing my car.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that mate.

I think I may be in the same boat as you, as they are the only people who would touch me because of my age/previous accident/remap.

Damn.

indeed, though others would insure me, greenlight was the cheapest.

Got until October to make up my mind as to what to do about it though

Me too, October the 1st :o

Lets see what happens eh? Might all work out ok but we'll see.

The only issue I have now is I have a new mod to declare, by contacting them tomorrow will they tell me they can't insure me with anymore mods than what is currently declared so I have to remove what i've put on (udder mod)
