Do the mirror puddle lights perform diagnose?

Featured Replies

I would like to change the puddle lights in the mirror for LED.

Do these perform a cold diagnose when switching on ignition? Or a warm diagnose? Would they blink everytime?

How could I disable this specific diagnose? Is it coupled with the internal lights diagnose which can be disabled in VCDS/OBDEleven or is it somewhere else where only VCP can be used?

They are covered by diagnostics but don't cause a bulb out warning. Never noticed any flashing/blinking...

I've never seen any way to code them for LED's so I just ignore the errors :)

Did mine with very bright ones from SuperSkoda, no flashing when opening door etc. Much better than the standard ones fitted, would fully recommend replacing them.

I also did the combi boot lights and puddle lights as my parking area is unlit.

I did not do the interior footwell or dome upgrade as it would  be too bright and spoil night vision for me.

I have a pair of these waiting to be fitted but slightly wary of how to get the mirrors off to then get into dismantle the unit.  Superskoda have a video on youtube on fitting these to an Octavia, I assume its the same process.

Any tips on doing the install ?  Thanks

I posted some pictures on a post a while back. Not difficult, just take your time. Take photos so you know where the wires run as you can get them in the wrong place.

Thanks for that, think I found your post ?  Good pic of the assembly, do the mirrors just pull out with some careful force ?

Yes just gently ease them out, be very careful pulling the mirror heater connectors out, they are (and need to be tight) press on the foil for support while easing the connector off, don’t just pull the connector off as you could pull the foil away from the mirror glass.

Just a question:

Should I remove the mirror glass first with a covered screwdriver or can the mirror housing be removed without removing the mirror glass?

Glass has to come out first to gain access to fixings, I just used my fingers as screwdriver may cause a pressure point which could crack the glass.
