The 220 I will be looking at tomorrow was registered in July 2018 but no idea when it was actually built.:blush

Mine was registered early July 2018 and has a build date at the end of May, but it's definitely MY18 :-)

Hope you like the car, it's a nice drive and goes quick enough for me. I'm certainly pleased with mine and I've only had it 2 months.

Just out of interest Tom what colour is your car, what mileage had it done when you bought and now I'm being cheeky what did you pay for it? TIA shy.

Not cheeky at all 🙂 It's Quartz Grey, mileage was about 7k and it had been registered for about 11 months at that point. I paid about 24k which seemed a good price at the time looking at other similar cars available in Sportline trim (there weren't many).

The difficulty was trying to find a car with the 220PS engine because it's no longer available, so the supply of potential cars is finite. I didn't fancy the 272/280 because of the extra weight and complexity of the AWD system, not to mention the reduction in fuel economy. The 220 is the sweet spot between having enough power and not costing too much to buy and run in my opinion.

Out of interest what sort of MPG do folks achieve with the 280 model

My ball park figure is

Town Driving = 30mpg

Motorway Driving = 40mpg

My longer term average on my 190 SCR TDI is 46.5mpg. My 9 mile commute to work gets me around 39mpg and my long haul from Leeds > Lutterworth > Leeds  twice a week (280 mile round trip) yields me around 55mpg

, the best Ive seen is 58mpg this is the M1 Junction 40- 20

It's not a insurmountable difference that change to a 280 would be unjustifiably more expensive to run, maybe £60-£80 a month difference ....

My long term average over 6000miles is 36. Most seem to be 30-32.

I drive pretty carefully mostly mostly in Eco. I didn’t buy the car for the 280bhp I bought it for the 4WD and weight (towing if needed).

On a 300mile motorway run at NSL I have seen 40+ occasionally.

All just from the trip computer though so not 100% accurate.

If I use eco and stick to speed limits on motorways, 40mpg on the display is possible. City stop start driving without stop start as I do is less than 28mpg.

280 estate i don't get quite so good figures.

Town - 8 mile in 30 mins so lots if stop start drivibg is aroubd 26mpg.

Best was this summer back from france with family and luggage from kent to brum along the M1 roadworks so 50mph was 39mpg.

Steady 82mph (130km/h plus a bit)  and stops for peage tolls was 36mpg.

All much better thsn my much older 5 pot mondeo 2.5T so I'm happy considering 4wd and more max power.  I only do 7-8000mls a year. Ut the prev owner did 49000 in 2!

As the title suggests Thinking of a Change resulted in me changing my mind about viewing an 18 plate 217bhp Superb Sportline today and buying a brand new (12 miles showing) car sitting in the local Skoda dealers showroom. Guess it was love at first sight. Consolation is that it comes with first 2 services for £159 and 3 years warranty oh and 242bhp to start with.:inlove:

Very good @shyVRS245 - but is it Dragon Green ? 😙

Around town 20-23mpg. On a 200 mile drive down the A1 I can achieve 38-40mpg but that’s with the ACC set at NSL and free flowing traffic.

With 2 adults, 2 children and a full boot I achieved ~35mpg on a drive down to Cornwall.

Sadly not I do love that colour and maybe one day I will fall under it's spell. Corrida Red is one of my favourite Skoda colours and it was so shiny in the showroom if the salesperson had told me it was the expensive optional Velvet Red I would have believed them. Cleaned the Karoq's roof properly about 3 times in 19 months of ownership despite being 6 foot tall myself. Won't miss that.:D

Why would I buy an estate? They are bought by dog owners, people with 3 children or caravan lovers. No it's the better looking hatch of course will post pictures in 8 days time.

Most people's last ever journey in a motor vehicle is usually in an estate of some kind. Volvo, Mercedes and Daimler spring to mind.:tongueout:

I'll just laugh at you trying to fit a fridge-freezer in the back of your hatch whilst I drive past in my estate where it fits easily 😉 Not all estate buyers have dogs, kids or caravans!

My last fridge/freezer (American sized) was delivered in alarge lorry and 2 burly fellows just managed to squeeze it through the front door it was so big. Got 7 large suitcases in my small 1700 litre hatchback (wife likes clothes don't they all).;)

Just most or are company tools for all those essential samples to show clients. 55" TV also fits in my hatch. And a bike without the need to take off the front wheel.:tongueout:

Hey,

I end up at the Asda DC's sometimes but mostly it's over the road at George House 😎

Thanks that makes sense due to Asda HQ being in Leeds. We are not likely to see each other as I usually start at 6am or 6pm. Small world my Tenant now works at the warehouse next to me by pure chance.
