Usb Slot loose on Octavia

Featured Replies

I have a 66 plate Octavia estate and my usb slot has recently had a lot of movement cutting off apple play and nav when I'm connected to my phone. Have phoned skoda but they can't find the part apparently.

When it's plugged in it shakes from side to side very easily. Anyone ever fitted a new one? I'm not sure how to take it off.

66 plate should mean the car is still under warranty, the part is failing to do it's only function so I'd say that qualifies for a warranty replacement.  Have you visited your local dealer for investigation?

I've spoken to Skoda on the phone, they have said it ran out in March, I've wrote 66 but it was a 16 plate. Plate was changed after I had it a few weeks.

Er, that's illegal, because it makes the car appear younger than it actually is.

You do not have a 16 plate car on a 66 plate. DVLA won’t even process it AFAIK.

You May have an older plate with no’s 66 in it but it will not be a new type 66 plate on your car.

If it’s out of warranty then either get taking the lower bit of dash/tray area apart or book in with an independent as their hourly rate should be less or try a radio/audio car place they can often sort out USB ports etc

Jesus everyone jumping the gun. I put my own private plate on the car, it's a 16 plate not 16 as I wrote above. My private plates been on it since I picked it up.

I was looking to see how easy it was to take out mate, not sure if anyone here has ever replaced them. I can't imagine it would be too complicated.

This should read it's a 16 plate and not 66. If I had the ability to edit my own post's I would have fixed the heading which messed the post up in the first place. Apologies for the confusion.

Calm down mate; I said it was illegal (actually should have been impossible) as a warning about possible Dod G dealings, not a personal accusation. OK?

It did appear to me that people were jumping the gun saying you had illegal plates so I'll back you up on that one.

As for replacing the part. Try 5Q0035726E for starters. Might not be 100% right but should point you in the right direction. You'll need some vag audio tools to remove the screen which will give you access to remove the aircon control cluster then to the usb module. Shouldn't cost much more than £50 for the whole job.

Don’t take my post as being cheeky mate, it certainly wasn’t intended to come across that way.

That’s a great start, thank you very much.

Universal stereo removal keys from Ebay- generally about £2 - £4 to remove the screen, then some plastic trim removal tools (similar price as stereo removal keys from Ebay). The replacement USB is about £32 from the dealer iirc.
