Mobile unlocking

Featured Replies

I'm in the middle of porting my mobile to s new Network and I have an ls phone I'd like to use in the meantime. It's locked to the wrong network though, so does anyone know a free place to get an unlock code for a J3 Samsung?

Please, no recommend actions for places charging £20 or so, the ones only worth a tenner so gotta be free really.

Cheers.

I'm quite handy with Google and I'd already found that site (along with many others). I also found some very poor reviews about unlocky...

🙄

Was this used on a contract?

The network it belonged to should issue you the unlock code for free after the contract has ended.

You just have to ask for it.

It's worked for me several times

It's mother in law's old phone and it was on contract. She's no longer a customer of EE and asking her to contact them and get it unlocked would take more time and energy than I have left. She changes contracts and providers like the wind changes because whoever she's with are terrible, and the company she moves to are going to be better. I'm saying it's EE, but it could be anyone to be honest, she can't remember much detail.

Last time i ported networks it took my old provider 9 of the "up to 10days" to send my unlock code..

Main difficulty with most of the free services is its usually some dodgy app that generates them, and their disclaimers are all the same "not our fault if you brick your phone with this code" .

I always buy my phones unlocked and sim free, then simply run a sim only contract so I can change as and when things go wrong. This last week Plusnet (through EE) have been terrible. Not able to make calls, people can't contact me, blank answerphone messages (about 30% are just silence), and the final straw they put my contract price up by 50p and brought out another tarif with more data at £1 less. Requested a PAC on Wednesday and ordered a new sim from someone else. New sim came yesterday, number porting and changeover today. So I may not need the spare phone after all, but it would be handy to have it unlocked.

I have just had a EE contract iPhone unlocked.  When I spoke to EE about unlocking the phone I was told it was already unlocked.  If you have been out of contract for more than 6 months they automatically unlock phones.  Give them a ring, all you need is the IMEI number which you can get from the phone.

They need this number to make sure the phone is not stolen

If you've had the phone 18 months then it's automatically unlocked by EE.

This one is three years old and is still locked.  It does have "My EE" icon on the main screen so I presume it is an EE phone.

It's now not an issue. I realised my existing contract Plusnet sim would work in the old J3 so I put that in, and then put my new Voxi sim in my unlocked Pixel 2. Then I used the old phone til it stopped working and a few seconds later my own phone and new sim came online and I carried on with only a few seconds disruption.

I've got a Motorola phone to sell but it's locked to Tesco. Asked for an unlocking code and got it from Tesco within about 5 hours. It states just put the unlock code in when inserting another networks SIM, it didn't work. Tried another sim still doesn't work, so that's two new Sims tried. Even the Tesco phone shop and online chat can't seem to get this phone unlocked. The phone might sell for £35 unlocked or anything from £10 locked.

Apart from paying to get it unlocked (not worth it) any ideas, phone is 4+ yrs old?
