Alarm keeps going off!

Featured Replies

My alarm has started to go off over the past week for no apparent reason, only happens at night or the early hours of the morning and wakes me up which is frustrating to say the least. What could be causing this?

Over-sensitivity in the volumatic or vibration sensors. Test this by locking the car with the key rather than the plip, since this isolates them.

Flat alarm UPS battery.

Someone is messing with you...

From an old post, make sure the volumetric sensor in front of the glasses holder is kept clean. Just use a vacuum cleaner over the three grills once every few years.

However, as Ken implied, a failing alarm battery is first noticed by the alarm going off intermittently. Skoda recommend changing the alarm unit (battery is locked inside) every six years; most last longer.

Search for alarm or alarm battery as there are many posts showing best source (China) and how to change the alarm unit.

You could also try a double-press of the lock button. It'll sounds like the car has unlocked again if done right. This turns of the internal sensors, so if there is a spider/bug/etc setting it off....it wont!

You can also turn off the internal sensor by pressing the switch at the bottom of the B pillar on the driver's side, before locking the car.

I've spent some time today playing around with the fob. Here's an update. Could this be anything?

If I lock the car with the key I can see the little red flickering light just inside the glass

If I lock the car with 1 click of the fob I can see the little red flickering light just inside the glass

If I lock the car with 2 clicks of the fob I do not see the little red flickering light just inside the glass - this is how I've always locked my car and until today I've never noticed that there isn't a red flickering light
