vRS service, bickertons sheffield...

Featured Replies

hey all, just gonna give a little write up of my experiances, I'm currently sat in the waiting room, after having my car booked in at 10:30 am, and it hasn't started well...

I waited for a fair while as there was no-one on the desk at service reception, and then I'm told, "all our technitions are busy so it may be a while before we get it in.." CRAP! its booked in at 10:30, it should be taken in and serviced at 10:30! I told them this, and that I have lessons booked in the afternoon, If I miss these I will be seeking compensation!

bad bloody start!

note: I'm only here at the dealers and not JBS because I thought I had a warrenty issue with a vibration, but put new tyres on this morning and it seems to have cured it..... JBS did a better job last time, and I'll probably be back with them for the 40k service......

I'll update the thread when I'm done for the day, or if I'm still here HOURS later!!!! gggrrrrr

OOPS ! Not good for the JD Power survey. Hope all works out in the end.

Hi Mate

Ooops I know that you have to be out on time too for your next pick up.

Tell them your job relies on them being efficiant.

Hope all goes well ,ate

thanks for the interest Sarah!

update: they've got the car in, and say my pads (all round! don't believe that, reccon the rears, will be ok...) are 80% worn...... they don't have any in stock, so I asked them not to bother, but they are gonna price them up for me.... say I have 3,00 miles left on them..... I'll also price some up at JBS to see the difference.......

ok, update at the end of it all, they didn't do toobad....

it was the first impression that worried me, I don't know if someone else made desicions after the first guy "won't get you in for a while" spoke to me, but in the end it took them only an hour, and that included washing the car, no undue mileage on the car (i.e. no joyriding) , and a total cost of £82.66, which included screenwash, and 0.6 hours labour, which isn't bad... so in the end, contrary to my initial worries, they were fast, cheap, and they cleaned the car.... so no real complaints..

got quotes for the brake pads.. Front: £70.07 Rear: £93.70 hhmmm.... they need to be done within then next 3,000 miles, I'll post the quotes on JBS's section and see if they can beat it....

so overall, despite my initial misgivings, they turned out fine! :)

My dealer never washes my car.

Is this something I can request as a no cost extra in my service?

well I never asked them... (I'd only washed it a few days earlier , to sadly find two "car park" dings...) but they just washed it anyway........ :)

when you're next at your dealers, say "they wash their customers cars at Bickertons in Sheffield..."

THEY CAN BE FUNNY SOMETIMES!

When i had my car scanned there,(due to dash warning light) I booked it in with the promise that i could wait for the car, as i had to take a day off work to find the fault.

I got there for 9 that morning only to be told that i had no chance of waiting as they didn't no when they could do it!

So i walked home-about 5/6 miles.

They rang at 5pm to say it was ready to collect!

There was no way i could run all the way across Sheffield before they closed at 6!

So I had to leave the car there till the Saturday as i had no way of getting there to pick it up until then.

Even then i had to pay for the Scan, even though the actual work was covered by the warranty-which they did some weeks later.

Great service!

They'd been good until then.....and since!

We all have off days i suppose.

Shame i had to loose a days holiday for the privilege though. :(

Its not part of the service, just a service some dealers offer.

I have used Bickertons for some 6 years now and agree they can get it wrong sometimes, but generally get it right, give good service. They have always washed the car after any work and vac it out if the work has been inside - nice touch I think.

Bickertons do monitor this site so the message will get through I'm sure.

I've always used bickertons and never had a problem with them. They generally give excellent service ( they even gave me a free MOT last year).

The only issue I had was with a front ARB and rear wheel bearing failure at 30K miles, but I suppose that was more an issue with Skoda than the dealer.

I really don't think they'd try and fleece you on the service side of things, i.e charging for unneccessary repairs.

I just find them a bit expensive. Considering a trip to JBS next time, any reviews on them?

Hello,

Where / who is JBS? - are they good?. My local Skoda dealer is Bickertons but I prefer to use the independents

Cheers

Andy

JBS in Chesterfield. They have their own section here on Briskoda.

Sorry to sound like a Pleb, but who and where are JBS?

Maybe you didn't buy your car from them, perhaps you bought it off the internet and they had one of their own cars also waiting. Their own customer would have taken priority. However if you did buy the car from them they should really have made sure there was a tech free at 10:30 for you.

See where you're coming from but that's not a valid excuse really. If you're booking cars in for specific times you would expect them to on the ramp at those times unless something 'major' comes up!

Simpsons in Colne (where I bought mine) always wash and tidy, but Farmers in Leicester (Where I live) never do :(

Sorry mate. :D
