Hello all,

Just a quick note.

Those people who are running the IHI set-up in their octy's, do you know what your 1/4 mile time is?

Cheers

if its anything like the times JBS' vRS put down then mid to low 14's due to massive traction problems off the line.

obviously Stuart J and his IHI 4x4 is going to be better off the line.

1/4 mile for the JBS Octavia when running the GT28RS was 13.1s.

not when i watched him at the pod it wasnt... i suppse he was having a bad day...

Sounds like it. 13.1 was timed by PVW the 2nd time the car was featured. Other figures on the day were 4.8 0-60 and 10.1 0-100.

eddy is that 13.1 with nos?

No, he's never run NOS on the GT28RS, he only ever used it on the standard turbo.

EDIT: When running Revo + 75shot of NOS on standard turbo the figures were as follows:

0-60 6.3s

0-100 12.99s

1/4 mile 14.45s

I thought there were figures of 400 bhp and a 100 shot of nos, 400bhp on standard turbo?

No, the first figures I posted were GT28RS with a claimed 440bhp WITHOUT NOS. 2nd figures in my edited post are for Revo + 75shot on standard turbo so power would have been around 300bhp.

I seem to remember the most power he got out of the standard turbo with nitrous was between 300 and 320bhp. I drove it with this spec and it was v.quick indeed. It was this spec the first time we went to Bruntingthorpe with PVW (where I ran my Nitroused Polo GTi - badly LOL).

The 13.1s 1/4 was also at Brunters, timed with PVW's V-Box with a GT28RS-JBS Turbo, running Custom Code Phase Three and definately NO NOS.

I am very eager to see what it will run now!!!

Remember that Bruntingthorpe is an air strip. When I was last there, there was a lot of grit on the runway and the quality of the strip isn't fantastic, so grip is nowhere near what you'd get at a drag strip such as Santa Pod.

Well we will never know as I dont do drag starts, with all the grip the 4x4 gives I have respect for the transmission (& my wallet), if the wheels dont slip, the paddle clutch wont so that leaves gearbox & drive shafts to take the strain, the next weakest link.

As a rule I wont floor the car until Im rolling & usually that means in second. I get more satisfaction out ofnailing it through the twisties where it just hangs on & goes   .

He was also running the softest road legal compound Khumos going...which grip like hell, not quite as good as slicks, but not far off...there is a hell of a lot of grip at brunters with sticky tyres, my inters bite and they are good for 10k not 1k miles.

I thought he was running a 100 shot of nos, which makes 320 not alot...but then we know the k03s does not do much above 220 anyway :)

You're mixing up the dates Colin, but yeah...

Soft tyres on the GT28RS-JBS day...

100 Shot (which never actually gives a full 100bhp imho) and K03S on the time I went with him (there was grit and salt on the runway as it was winter and the runway was in use). He had Uniroyal Rainsports on then IIRC.

Right, I'll get me coat... :)

i thought it dynoed at 440 without nitrous  i remember someone posted the printout from a rr day a while ago in the gallery

theres a few leons up here which will we running fairly big power up hear in the next couple of weeks, robdon (which has a 180 engine) is getting an ATP GT2x which should see around 300 or BHP.

craigs(who again has the 180 engine) is getting a GTRS which will have around 350bhp(should be finished this week) and john's(is a cupra not sure is its a 210 or 225) which has an IHI and 368bhp.

only one i know of thats been on the 1/4mile out of those 3 is craig with his old set up (280bhp on a hybird KO4) did a 14.1 or there abouts with no traction at all cause it was so wet.

Josh,

I thought James was running a GT28/71r not the so called Disco potato.

 as the 28rs only flows 350.

I think you're right Des, not sure on the exact spec but I believe it's based on the gt2871, however in fairness to Josh JBS do call it the GT28RS-JBS or something along those lines.

Sorry Des, I'm not sure of the technicalities.

Eddy's right though... JBS have always called it an RS-JBS

Sheesh, I was getting worried there.....I thought james has managed to get silly BHP out of a 28rs. All OK now, checked my pulse and everything is back to normal.

if u wanted that IHI turbo fitted to an 225 engine, what would u need if u already had FMIC. New injectors?

Manifold, Up rated Fuel Pump, Induction Kit, Dump valve Boost controller Exhaust sysytem with large sports cat, Coolant pipes to & from the turbo, Boost pipe, exhaust temp sensor linked into cars electronics, miscelaneous gaskets etc, & a decent remap + a few bits Ive probably forgotten. Then theres a decent Clutch.

If you want aboove about 330 bhp you will need to consider Rods, Pistons & valves to guarantee a thrashable reliable car

To add its well worth it !!!!!!!!!!!!!
