DPF Help required

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Wifes 07 PLATE PD170 TDI VRS ..DPF /GLOWPLUG /ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT CAME UP THE OTHER DAY (SHE SAYS )...Borrowed a mates VCDS Laptop/VCDS software....To try and get to the bottom of it..Usually it's a case of get it up the road for a good run, and it clears...As I am not used to using this software I need some advice..I have found the following info ..see below copied from VCDS screen...I can't seem to get it out of limp mode in order to perform a regen properly.

Just wonder of the values indicated mean that the DPF is shot..Or could it be a fault like a sensor...As I say I don't really know what I am looking for..Any help gratefully received.

Cheers,

Bob.

HI Bob - I'm having a similar problem with my 2.0 PD TDI vRS 2007; I'd be very interested in what happen next for you? I'm taking mine out for a burn tonight but if that doesn't clear it, I have to consider a replacement DPF at roughly £700 ... any advice welcome,

thanks

Sarah

If I understand correctly, your DPF is at 108.9% of it's capacity, meaning it won't do a self-regen. Personally I'd take it to a dealer and get them to run a forced Regen (unless there's a way to do that in VCDS?). No surprise that it's going into limp mode with the DPF that clogged. And by the sound of it you won't be able to Regen since it's in limp mode.

Hi folks...Just a quick update....Faulty sensor was the problem..Which led to the DPF getting full to the brim....Sensor changed ...Forced regen..Which took a long long run to actually clear...Eventually, Car returned to its normal running .Very lucky to get away with it I think...

Have just bought my first EU5 DPF equpped Skoda (not seen it yet) and will be scanning it with VCDS next week, is there a way of seeing the soot measurement and doing a forced regen?

Are you aware that you should adapt the new pressure sensor after it has been fitted?

Yes and yes, not sure how to force one though as I've never needed to and don't see the point doing one for the fun of it :D Its the ash content you really need to look at as that tells you how close you are to needing a new DPF.

Yup, look in the measuring blocks.

- Oil ash is the un-burnable goo that determines DPF lifespan

- Soot mass is the amount of soot (there will be measured and calculated, normal to be different)

As SuperbTWM mentioned, there should be no need to perform a forced regen but VCDS should be able to :)

Thanks Langers, would that be the engine control module or another one?

Correct, it'll be from the engine ECU 🙂

thanks for the update!
